Hellsing Ultimate is pretty good, vampires and mercenaries fighting vampire nazis in modern London. Its much better than Hellsing. Blood + was pretty good and also had vampires, and FLCL is good if you like randomness. Gun Slinger Girl was depressing and I wasn't fond of it, Blade of the Immortal lacked an ending which sucks and I'd recommend neither.

I have seen and recommend:
Dragonball and Dragonball Z
Naruto
Bleach
Code Geass
Death Note

I have read and recommend:
Naruto
Bleach
Dragonball Z
Full Metal Alchemist (Manga is better than anime imo)
Inuyasha (Didn't like it that much but I recommend it for chicks)

First, I'm French, but
Here is a vademecum of my while life of anime:

Little (elementary-primary school)
-Pokemon, because Pokemon. But just to Jotho, then it's just money business...
-little, I watched too Digimon, but quickly dropped off, I considerated this like a crappy ripp-off
-sailor moon, I even don't know why did I watched this! Maybe because I had a little crush on the blonde :-°... Aw, youngness, Where are you now?
-CArd captor Sakura, something is better than Sailor. I remember just some things of this, but I know that I enjoyed this anime, but why? I'll
Look this again, that wakes my curiosity (and Le joueur du grenier m'a gentiment ressorti ça dans son dernier numéro, donc...)
-yu-gi-oh And beyblade because mode effect, just don't look at this...

There was some non-Asian things great though:
-Samurai Jack, just a little pearl of epicness ( and I almost writed Perl instead of pearl)
-Code Lyoko, French thing about collegians saving the world by defending a virtual world :-° Not specially great, but persistent in memories

Collège period:
-DBZ, just why did I bought the whole 42 books?
At college, I started not liking anymore anime that I thinked puerile...

Lycee:
-Death Note, only the first part, with L is good
-D.Gray-Man
-Deadman Wonderland
-GTO

Special Mention to City Hunter, called "Nicky Larson" who got really crappy dubs!

And sorry for necro, but I can't throw away for indefinite time my past, I must talk of it without becoming aggressive, or blurry, avoiding. It's for me, a step.
Than you to have red my post! ;)

To finish, my recommend list:
-GTO
-Deadman Wonderland, but behave: guts and blood
-Nicky Larson in French for da lolz

I actually watched Sailor Moon for a short while as kid lol, but I got bored after a while. It aired on a free TV channel in the early '90s here.

I myself mostly watched the following:

-Dragon Ball Z (first 26 episodes). Not too bad, but some stuff seems to be dragged on over an excessive amount of episodes sometimes.
-The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Only if you like exploration-based stuff or RPGs. Also this is a co-french-japanese production, so while it's considered as an anime by many people, it is more a mix of cartoon and anime.
-Yu-Gi-Oh: Not that I was much into card games, but I liked to watch it.

As for Code Lyoko, my bro used to like that a lot actually.

I'm a bit of a Sailor Moonie myself. I've seen about 150 of the 200 episodes, but the Black Moon Circus Arc is reallly slow, which is why I haven't really watched much past it.

Code Lyoko's pretty good too, but I haven't watched most of it.

And Deadman Wonderland is fantastic! I'm in the middle of watching it myself.

Some of my personal favorite animes are:
Code Geass: It's just a fabulous show with an amazing ending.
Shakugan no Shana: Slice of life/magical girl/romance with a kickass heroine.
Star Driver: It's very camp, and probably a little NSFW, but a great show overall.
Guilty Crown: Fantastic but incredibly sad, especially the ending.
Baka and Test: School life/romantic comedy/incredible amount of comedy and a fantastic cast.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Murder/mystery genre. Pretty gory, like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, but it's a really good show, and they use Schrodinger's Cat to disprove the fact that a witch's battle took place at one point.

Spoiler For Projects:

My projects haven't been worked on in a while, so they're all on hiatus for the time being. I do hope to eventually return to them in some form or another...

Spoiler For Pokemon TI:
Axe port of Pokemon Red/Blue to the 83+/84+ family. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia:
My big personal project, an original RPG about dimensional travel and a few heroes tasked with saving the world.
Coding-wise, on hold, but I am re-working the story.

Spoiler For Finale's Super Insane Tunnel Pack of Doom:
I will be combining Blur and Collision Course into a single gamepack. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia Origins: Sky's Story:
Prequel to Nostalgia. On hold, especially while the story is re-worked.

I didn't really watched Sailor Moon myself, seems pretty interesting. And obviously, Pokémon (Gen 1) was a must.

Anyway, here's my list of anime.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu: Probably one of the best, involves paranormal stuff such as time travel, aliens and crazy girls.
Lucky Star: Pretty much slice of life about an otaku girl. By the same folks who made Haruhi, there's tons of Haruhi references in it.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magical girls, there's tons of mindfuck but has surpassed Haruhi as the best anime ever. Pretty interesting.
K-ON!: It's about some girls who forms a music band at school. Pretty nice anime.
Shinryaku! Ika Musume: About a squid girl from the sea with squid powers who wants to take over the earth due to ecological reasons, but completely fails at it. Very funny.

Planetes is a great hard sci-fi series about space junk collectors in the future. If you have watched the movie Gravity, you will notice the similarities.
Hyouka - about a high school club that ends up solving mysteries. I found it very relaxing to watch. It's from KyoAni, the same studio that animated Haruhi, so you can know it will look great.
Tokyo Magnitude 8 - follows a brother and sister making their way home after a hypothetical magnitude 8 earthquake. I don't want to spoil the ending, but let's just say it will knock the feels right out of you.

Yep, why not both? You guys should watch this one.
Unfortunately, it's not a real anime, but it would be pretty awesome.

Otherwise, the local movie theater (the one almost 2 hours of transit from my home) have anime around 3 times a year and it's pretty fun going there. last one was Anohana, which is pretty sad.
