What animes have you seen and what you recommend?

I have seen and recommend:

- Code Geauss: Lelouch's Rebellion
- Death Note
- Naruto (first half of first season)

I have also seen:
- VanDread
- Samurai7
- Dragon Ball Z and GT (some)
- Pokemon (first three, maybe)
- Digimon (many series, almost the entire seasons)
- Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X)
- Samurai X (aka name of the samurai guy with an X scar)
- MushiKing
- Unfortunately some crappy ones in tv (Sailor Moon, for example)

Going to see: (possibly will recommend)
- Neo Genesis Evangelion

I was needing some animes to watch. I have to update talk with a friend...
I have read in many places suggesting the Evangelion...

I am going to watch it next summer or in a very lazy weekend.

(yeah I had in mind to add an anime subforum for several months now, with the increase in loli fans over here... er... wait, that's Geno :P, I mean anime fans in general)

I don't watch new anime much myself, since I hardly watch TV anymore since the day I got both a calculator and a copy of MTVMG. My creativity took my entire time that was once devoted to gaming and watching TV. So far I mostly watched ones from the '80s and early '90s, but many people recommend NGE. Supposedly good anime except the ending.

All I've seen so far is:
-Dragon Ball Z ep 1 through 26 (the only ones that ever aired on antenna TV)
-Some Yu-Gi-Oh episodes
-Pokémon season 1, 2 and the first half of 3 (surpringsly fun even for adults, altough the repetitiveness with the Team Rocket shit can get annoying from time to time)
-Some sparse Digimon episodes
-Some Sailor Moon episodes (watched them around 1992-94)
-Mysterious Cities Of Gold (for some reasons, this is considered as an anime, but as you can tell, I love it so much compared to anything else that I even made a fan game based on it)

Basically mostly the generic stuff, half of which aired before most Omnimaga members even came to birth :P

My brother is a big anime fan. I'm not sure if I could get it to sign up here since idk if he posts on forums much but he is a fan of Ghost In The Shell, Armitage, Evangelion, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Dragon Ball and I wouldn't be surprised if he got into other stuff online.

Also, Full Metal Alchemist, D.Gray Man, and Death Note are some that I enjoyed/enjoy currently

Spoiler For funny life mathematics:
1. ROMANCE MATHEMATICS
Smart man + smart woman = romance
Smart man + dumb woman = affair
Dumb man + smart woman = marriage
Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy
2. OFFICE ARITHMETIC
Smart boss + smart employee = profit
Smart boss + dumb employee = production
Dumb boss + smart employee = promotion
Dumb boss + dumb employee = overtime
3. SHOPPING MATH
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.
A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need.
4. GENERAL EQUATIONS & STATISTICS
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
5. HAPPINESS
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.
6. LONGEVITY
Married men live longer than single men do, but married men are a lot more willing to die.
7. PROPENSITY TO CHANGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, and she does.
8. DISCUSSION TECHNIQUE
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Girls = Time * Money (Girls are a combination of time and money)
Time = Money (Time is money)
Girls = Money squared (So, girls are money squared)
Money = sqrt(Evil) (Money is also the root of all evil)
Girls = sqrt(Evil) squared (So, girls are the root of all evil squared)
Girls = Evil (Thus, girls are evil)

I saw all you mention except Mysterious Cities Of Gold but I have heard of it. Maybe I saw because it took some years to reach my country, tough. It was 2 decades ago, now, around here things are following by close "occidental" phenomenons.

It really sucks when good series end bad and are great...

This topic remembers me I have got to complete my anime list... Done. DJ you helped a lot. :P
And edited my first topic.

I am going to see One Piece because it seems hilarious but is a long anime, I think. What do you think?

I'll weigh in on Eva too, since the thread has drifted that way...
Evangelion, to me, is fascinating for more than what it is by itself, if that makes any sense. Evangelion is sort of an extension of its creator, Hideaki Anno, a man of very little confidence and a rather depressive nature. Basically, it started out and was always intended to be a run-of-the-mill mecha action anime, but over the course of its development, Anno lost faith in his fans, his industry, and his profession, and decided to send a somewhat dark and controversial message instead.
At least, this is how I see it...

Anyway, it's interesting for many reasons, and it's certainly considered to be one of the most influential anime ever created, or even perhaps the absolute most important period. I like it, and there is a lot more to say about it (specifically the events leading up to the ending and interpreting what, exactly, the ending actually is), but I'll leave my comments on it at this for now.

I could talk about some of my favorite anime now, but my preference deviates pretty harshly genre-wise from the titles that have been listed so far...
I'm in to romance, drama, slice-of-life, that sort of thing... I guess I'll say this. I love Kyoto Animation the most out of all the animation studios. They created Full Metal Panic (except for the first season), Air, Kanon, Clannad (these last three are all stories from visual novels written by Key), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, and K-On.
FMP is a comedy/action/romance combination series...
Air, Kanon and Clannad are Romance stories...
Haruhi is in a genre by itself...
Lucky Star and K-On are both slice-of-life, but Lucky Star is more of a comedic parody anime while K-On is focused on the moe factor.

One issue with some stuff I watched, such as MCOG and Albator is that they often came out first in Japan and France and took several years to get translated into english. I heard MCOG came out in UK in 1989 or something, even if the series dates back in 1982, and the translation was terrible. For some reasons, that stuff always seemed to be translated in french first, before english. It migth have been due to greater popularity in France at the time. Also some stuff was renamed in France. For example Captain Harlock was renamed to Albator, because a cartoon/comic had a character called Captain Haddock and this leaded to confusion among kids, and the opposite happened too, like Goldorak in France being renamed to Grendizer in english speaking countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if some anime was renamed when translated from Japaneese to English too, because MCOG in Japan was called 太陽の子エステバン (Taiyō no Ko Esuteban), which meant "Esteban: A Boy From The Sun".

Usually, many of the Japanese anime were translated into Korean first, since they are the neighboring country. Although I'm still young (not twenties yet) but I know many of old anime... lol

Oh, btw, if you don't mind sports anime, I recommend Slam Dunk. That was fun!

I heard about that one before, they had mangas of it too. Btw, on the Manga subject, does anyone remember Fly? I didn't read all of them but I quite liked them. Some parts were a bit like DBZ but better drawn in overall.

I also remember that Akira Toriyama manga that teaches how to draw mangas. It was like some story as well and it was funny at times :P
