Pokemon Sprites
« on: July 19, 2010, 04:34:49 pm »
Due to boredom and too many sightings of Pokemon Clones with bad graphics and complaining no one is willing to draw graphics for them (e.g. http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/185/18537.html)  I decided to draw four-level greyscale sprites of every pokemon in the Original Pokemon.

Here's what I have so far:

Also, anyone can help.  Just make sure the graphics are the ones used in Pokemon Red/Blue.

btw, I wasn't referring to Pokemon Purple, Bucleye's clone, FinaleTI's, or Metagross's.

Actually, that's what I've been using, still I wish calcs had higher resolutions and supported more levels of grayscale (OR BETTER YET, COLOR!), but we all know what to expect from TI. :)
Then we could just rip the sprites directly and all gameboy game clones would be 20x better and TI's calcs would sell 20x as well.

You could always just use the 50x50's for the evolution screen or something :)

So wait, what's different between the ones posted and the sprite sheet on http://www.spriters-resource.com/gameboy/pokerb/sheet/8727 like Art_of_camelot posted?  ???
They seem to look the same to me, and they are also an inconsistent size, which doesn't help much either.  :-\
I do sprites and stuff, so yeah.

yay!  Someone actually can't tell the difference!
the link AOC posted are many level grayscale, whereas mine are four-level.  Technically anyone can do this, but apparently most people aren't.

Actually, both are 4 color. The sheet I posted is from the original gameboy game, as all the gameboy had was 4 colors. Some of Yunhua98's are slightly smaller than the originals for some reason (Charizard and Venusaur for example).

Yeah, that's why I was asking how it was different, seeing as how the Game Boy sprites were in 4 grayscale anyway. Here's part of that spritesheet converted to 4 colors, with no deterioration in quality.
I do sprites and stuff, so yeah.

Usually we count white, black, dark gray and light gray as levels.

That's what I thought.  The pic that I used was from a long time ago and was eight-level.  Odd.

Edit: Oh wait, I think I had color pics and use GIMP to make them greyscale.  Sorry guys.  I'm going to lock this since I screwed up and these are useless. :-[
