I think that's caused by the background not being redrawn. If yor emulator has a 'Force redraw' function, checking that should fix it.

How long does it take on your comp? I just timed it on mine and it was ~15 seconds
Tho to be fair the first start does take forever b/c of all the plug-ins.

ok, gimp takes some time to start up, but as soon as it is running it is awesome

gimp is wonderful, but it's not so good for pixel art. keoni, have you tried grafx2?

Oh by the way, look at my new avater. I took it from the Octodex, and Decided to downsampling it to a good old GameBoy Palette.
Here it seems to have more than 4 colours, because I actually sent it on gravatar who interpolates down the original, which was dithered.
Here is the Big size included. Gimphas a automatic dithering which gave a flat result. I has to tweak it to become like this, almost unrecognizable.
