We've all heard about GIMP, a free image editor alternative to Photoshop. But now there is something called Paint.NET (Windows obviously, http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html. What do you guys think?
EDIT: Link fixed.
-
well, it says 404 error because you left the ")" in the link. Now lemme try out the real site now.
-
Looks interesting...
I'll give it a try (though, it'll be awhile, since I have dial-up).

I realize the datestamps
Panit.NET is actually very good. I use it for all my photo editing needs. I feel the GIMP was too hard to get use to. But with Paint.NET it is just MS Paint but with all the features of a powerful photo editor. It still stays true to MS Paint with its ease-of-use so that is why I use it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great free image editing program.

Here are some textures that I did in Paint.NET for some games I am making.
Wood:

Rocky:

I am still working on the wood texture.
-
Ah yeah. Your rocks look nice but the wood does need some work. =) Looks more like a bale of hay or something. Anyways I'll give it a shot (I should mention though, you don't have to pay for photoshop cs2 if you don't want to if you catch my drift... XD
)

I use a combination of Gimp and Pixen for image editing :)
. I agree with spengo, the rock is much better than the wood.
-
Haha yeah I know and the rock was so much simpler to make, but to get my point across I used all Photoshop tutorials to make those. Plus I heard Photoshop is a processing hog while Paint.NET isn't.
@spengo: Yes I caught you drift and I have tried to ride that drift out to sea but it seems as though pirates have ambushed me on my way. I have no way to fix my ship. Mind to help me with a PM ;)
(Wow I love analogies)

Your rocky surface is good. This is how I render wood in Photoshop (it's not too good, but it's OK for my purposes):
-
Wow those wood textures are amazing I love those man!!

Its interesting, not as advanced as gimp though
