Propeller animation
« on: January 05, 2013, 10:47:25 pm »
So for my game, Drillminer, the digging machine can fly around.

I have 1 still sprite, but I have no idea how to make a semi-realistic spinning propeller.

Can anybody help make a flying animation?

Here's my try (it's animated slowly) is it something useful? :)

I'd just have 3-4 frames of a motionblurred propeller turning around. If I were good at it, I'd have sprited it for you, but I am not :/.

You could just draw a grey circle with a moving white line in it indeed (that's what you mean I guess).

if you're worried about it looking cut off, the version nick made might work better. the problem is that the other is an angular perspective, while the helicopter body is seen head on (well, side on).

That style might work better, although it kinda looks like it's just getting longer and shorter

That is essentially what it is, looking at rotating EXACLTY from the side.

You would need some thickness from the side to show it's actually rotationg and not getting longer and shorter.

Can you make the frequency of the propeller depend on the acceleration in the upward direction of the vehicle?
