Shrink 16x16 sprites
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:40:08 am »
Does anybody think that they can shrink these 16 by 16 sprites into greyscale 8 by 8 sprites?

16x16? I count 24x24... this would be hard.

I admit, pixel art is not my thing. (Though each of these sprites are only 7x7... gives you one extra pixel to clarify the arrows?

Are these for slime or that other game you were talking about posting?  Either way, I'm no expert spriter either but those look so hard to fit that much detail down to something with 9 times less pixels O.O I like phenomist's version, are the arrows absolutely necessary?

I agree...this was incredibly hard to shrink down. This was my best effort. I agree on the 7x7 size.

phenomist you did a great job getting them down to that size.

Actually, the arrow isn't part of the sprites at all :P I was just talking about the figure, not the circle or the arrows. But these work, I guess.
Thanks, all :)

Hey guys, I also request a conversion of the bottom 5 sprites into greyscale 8x8 sprites.
I kinda like the 8x7 size so if you can make it that size.

16 by 16 would be fine, but when I did 8 by 7.  Well, there is no chance i can work with something so small.

Well, the ones Madskillz did worked just fine, so maybe something similar?
I'm no good with these kinds of things. The only thing that's important is the cape and hopefully the eyes and legs.

why not 8x8 sprites?  I think it would be easier to convert it that way.  You see, sprites that use an odd number for one or both of their dimensions have extremely different qualities.  They tend to either have really pointy or really flat features -- it's hard to get in between without ruining the symmetry.  However, 8x8 sprites can't be super pointy, but they look a little bit nicer at times due to the fact they are perfectly symmetrical.

Though, it's your choice ;)

I was just trying and I got this, but I don't know if they're good enough.
Maybe someone can edit these?

8x8 is fine too.
@Stephen The problem with just shrinking the images is you lose all the detail, so that won't work.
Maybe I'll give this a shot.
