Sprites, Please?
«

Hello, I'm am looking for some sprites to use in-battle for my game.
The sprites should be monochrome, and kept reasonably simple, as the game is pure BASIC, and I'll be drawing them with line( commands.
They will just be displayed once on the screen, though, so no speed worries. They can take up maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the height of the screen and 1/4 to 1/3 the width (as two of them will be displayed at one time.)
The first is for the main character.
He should be standing in profile, facing right, maybe in some sort of fighting position.
Also, I would like another one of him holding a bazooka-looking thing over his shoulder.
The next one (or two) will be enemies. They should be facing left, and be alien-looking.
The last one will be some sort of deranged, half-starved scientist guy, maybe holding a gun. He, too should be facing left.
I thank you in advance, and apologize for my being an awful artist.

I am afraid all our spriters are gone now, so sprite requests will most likely remain unanswered until Christmas time, sorry
For such sprite maybe Illusiat 10 enemy sprites could be useful, though.

Oh, well, that's okay. Thanks for the suggestion, DJ. I look at those. In the meantime, I'll work on the storyline and other little goodies.

I will have time tommorrow, but since your using line, does that mean it will have to be mostly made with lines?

not necessarily
line could be used in an rle-esqu fashion, meaning that you just should avoid dithering or any other quick transitions from black to white and back again.
use more cell shading type techniques(sort of like these sprites i made a while back[although there is a bit of dithering present...])

those were just a couple of random sprites i pulled out of a folder to help express an idea.
i could try making so real sprites if you'd like, but it would be easier if you were a little more explicit as to what kind of character/pose and all that you want as i have very little imagination
EDIT: that so should be some. this new keyboard is very odd sometimes
HOPEFULLY A HELPFUL SECOND EDIT: ok, here is a monochrome hero of sorts facing right. does that type work, or do you want something a little less tween-aged?
A THIRD, SLIGHTLY MORE INQUISITIVE EDIT: these are just being used for stills, right? is there a reason you cant use text sprites? that would make things a whole lot easier
FOURTH, SOMEWHAT SELF DEPRICATING EDIT: wow, that wasnt what you asked for at all(and here i am telling you to be more specific
). ok, here is the same fellow, but less cheerful and more fight-oriented(and in a profile view to boot)

Ya, I believe they are stills. It's because though he is using them battles, so he just wants it to look nice. Unless you mean Vertical Text Sprites (hmmm...idea for a new spriter...).

If I remember he doesn't plan to use any ASM libs, though, so such complex sprites might become a problem. That's unless he plans to display them pixel by pixel.
They look pretty nice, though.

Well if he uses
Line(
and
Pxl-On(/Pt-On(
commands it shouldn't be that much of an issue, I don't think anyways.

Well, actually if he wanted to do sprites with the Line( command, he could compress the sprites using the same method that Contra 83 uses to draw the screens for each level.
MRide, if you wanted to do so, or even check it out, I've attached an image renderer I made that lets you draw a pic as a compressed sprite.
The controls are arrows the move the cursor, 2nd to place a point, Alpha to recall a picture (0-9, cuz this is pure basic) to act as a guide. Mode finishes and compress the sprite.
prgmAIR is the editor and prgmAIMGR is the renderer.

Yeah but with line it might be kinda hard to create such complex sprite
. However with a converter I guess it could work.
