Title: TI-Explorer
Post by: AngelFish on October 07, 2010, 09:30:26 pm
Let me know what you would want to see :)

EDIT: It might not have been clear above, but I have a lot of blank space on the main menu and I can't decide how to fill it.

would you be willing to post the current picture?

edit: Lucky Level Seven. 500 posts!

voted rickroll, although I would suggest it being a textroll instead of going overboard like Desudesu.  :P

or saying The Game in greyscale.  ;)

I'm not exactly sure what we are voting for here. Also, what nemo said.

What would be the explorer for? Is it another shell or just some sort of file manager?

TI-Explorer basically lets you look at the native data in your calculator. It's not particularly useful, except for the fact that it contains a calender as well.

As for the current picture, well, there isn't one aside from random bits that I'm using to remind myself that the graphics need to be finished. All I have is a black screen with a few menu options.

what are the option names?

Explorer and Calender, with an Exit option coming soon ;D

I didn't go for anything fancy or obscure because coding hex/text sprites manually is a bloody pain.

If you wait maybe a month or so, I'll be releasing the most epic on-calc sprite editor the world has ever seen ;)

You haven't seen what my own Sprite editor can do.  ;D

Go ahead, try to name a function that it can't do (except generate hex codes right now :P).

Color? :P

If you consider Greyscale "color," then sure ;D

*goes off to write 3D rotation (2D rotation is already implemented)*

Ah ok nice :D. Kinda like CalcSys but with other stuff as well? Make sure if you got a calendar to not spell it calender, though ;).

Not quite as useful as Calcsys, but with considerably more lobsters 8)

Okay, Rickroll easter egg it is  ;D

Anyway, what does everyone think of the Safari hat logo?

Ehh... to be perfectly honest, if I hadn't seen you mention that it was a safari hat I might not have even recognized the image as one. If you tell me what you would want in such an image (dimensions, gray level), I could try to produce a really nice one for you.

EDIT: Eh, it's really difficult to get a good-looking image at this small size in black and white. But here's my best attempt at a 4-level grayscale image if you want it.

Mhmm I do not recognise it as the safari icon, unfortunately. :(

Maybe make it a bit lighter?

O0 Lobsters always add to the fun :D

Will this display files? Or is it just like a hex editor/viewer? If it displays files, I'd suggest using file icons :)

I think it would be cool to see a scaled down greyscale version of Windows Bliss in TI-Explorer (the default windows XP background).
For those of you who are unfamiliar with what I am talking about, here is a picture of it:http://blog.lib.umn.edu/mcda0081/architecture/windows%20bliss.bmp (http://blog.lib.umn.edu/mcda0081/architecture/windows%20bliss.bmp).

It wouldn't serve much of a purpose, but it would look cool.

Ah, that'd look awesome! Especially using 4-level grayscale (make sure you don't use black, though; it'd just look annoying).

Yeah that converts pretty well. Try to not just plain copy windows, though, lol :P

That greyscale Bliss looks awesome. The way the menu is currently set up, a background could be implemented with almost no work, aside from converting the image to hex.

By the way, Runer, do you think a 40x40 4 lvl Greyscale hat would be reasonable?

Probably not...
because side pictures of hats are wider than they are tall! But 40x27 is definitely doable.

That's cool. I'm assuming you don't mind if it makes it into the final program :)
