is axe dead/ dying?
« on: October 31, 2019, 11:15:00 am »
I graduated college in 2010. just as I stopped using ti calculators, it started getting good. Now I feel like an archaeologist. I'm done with several reads of the documentation. Now I'm going through the Q&A.

I don't think Axe is dead ;D. I think the development for Axe is dead but as far as programming with Axe, I think it's far from it because Axe provides so much functionality to people who don't know how to code directly in Assembly.

I think Axe will die as the monochrome calcs fall out of use, but I doubt that it'll totally die within the next decade or two. It is a fantastic language for the Z80. But you definitely missed out on the hayday :/

That really depends on your definition of dead. By most definitions, yes it is. Ticalc says it has 12 downloads in the past week. Really, the ti-calc programming as a whole is pretty dead. Have fun with it though. I still have a lot of fun programming with Axe but I have accepted that probably very few people will every play whatever I make.
I'm still around... kind of.
