Title: Bomberman 2
Post by: yunhua98 on January 29, 2011, 03:17:22 pm
I'm starting a new Bomberman game since the old one is pretty much finished and has a lot of messy code that I started a long time ago, when I wasn't as good at Axe.  :P  The new one is 3lvl greyscale, has 16x16 sprites, and features scrolling.  The explosion sprites aren't done yet, so I'm using black sprites as placeholders, you can't die yet, and there is no AI, but I'll get that added in due time, and I'll get sprites facing the other directions done soon too.  ;)  For now, here's a screenie.  :D

That looks cool. The only thing I think you should change is that the character looks really Pokemon like and think it should look different. But that's just me, good luck on it :) Looks cool.

Lol, that guy looks like the one from Pokemon. The graphics look great, but is the gray as flickery on calc as in the screenie? Also, do you think that 16x16 gives you too narrow of a view? :/ (although I guess it's too late to change that...)

lol ninja'd sort of

I agree with whats been said, especially the field of view unfortunately :[ As for the character, are you planning to give him walking animations and turning?

actually that character is also a place holder, its the Pokemon sprite but with a "B" on the cap.  ;)  this weekend, once I get more comp access, I'm gonna make new sprites and then copy them to the calc.  As for the 16x16 view, thats kinda what I'm trying to do, make it narrower and harder.  It'll require more strategy.  ;)

Looks good, I had some old bomberman sprites but they weren't 16x16 but I think 8x16

Thanks!  Although I'm not going to keep the pokemon-ish sprite.  I could add a cheat code to toggle it though.  ;)

Nice, I would change the tiles that surrounds the level area, though. Will there be different looking levels, by the way?

you mean the black ones?  I don't really know what to do for them, suggestions?

One thing I noticed: in reg. bomberman you would only break through one block at a time, until you got an upgrade.

A brick pattern, or pure GS?

I thought about maybe blocks like the end of most Super Mario Bros 1 levels, but with an outline.

I think I like a brick pattern.  ;)

willrandship:  could I have a screenie?  I'm not getting that...

Brick pattern is good I guess. Or you could have the level surroundings be like the walls in Zelda dungeons.
