CFX-9850GB plus - Broken screen
« on: August 07, 2013, 09:17:06 am »
Got it for €4. The screen has 3 horizontal missing lines in it. How do I fix it?

I remember guys repairng Game BOy with missing line by heating the (nappe?) sceen cable with a ironer. If you locate the good calbe, you could try heating it to make the contact again.

So I tried reflowing some solder on the horizontal ribbon cable, but it did not affect it. Then I found out there was another cable going to the screen for the vertical lines. That must be it, but the way it is designed means I have to desolder the horizontal ribbon in order to get to the vertical one.

It was worth a try, but of course it was a gamble. Because of the horrible way they designed the calculator the screen is not servicable. I could easily have fixed it otherwise. Two ribbon cables and in order to get to the vertical one I had to desolder the horizontal one which did not end well.
