Is casio going to make their own SDK?
« on: February 09, 2012, 04:34:01 pm »
Will we ever have an official sdk for prizm? Or are we only going to be able to use the third party ones?

I actually got an email from Casio just now and I got the reply:

Quote
"Casio does not have a plan to release SDK for PRIZM"

And that's the quote he got from his own investigation. Apparently, the R&D is worried about inappropriate use.

Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

That sucks, maybe they have the same concerns as the TI-Nspire, although I hope they won't go into a war against 3rd-party tools like TI did with Ndless.

From what I've read/seen casio seems to be much more laid back about our hacking so I dont think they will do much against us unless we create a program for cheating on tests...
I currently don't do much, but I am a developer for a game you should totally try out called AssaultCube Reloaded download here https://assaultcuber.codeplex.com/

Yeah maybe but since they don't plan on a SDK because of possible innapropriate uses, does it mean they'll try hard to prevent those innapropriate uses if a 3rd-party SDK comes out?

Link? ??? (I know the Nspire OS is by a different company for example)

The good news is that Nathan and a few others are still going to try suggesting it and other ideas when the opportunities present themselves.

Wait... I thought Casio had an official SDK for C over here? (Found from Kerm's Cemetech post.)

That one is for the FX-9860, not the PRIZM ;)

Yes, but if Kerm's one requirement ("A Casio Prizm (fx-cg10 or fx-cg20) graphing calculator") is to be believed, it's compatible :P

No, not compatible, uses some of the same libs, I think. Anyway, from what I heard, that method of developing for prizm is deprecated... We are supposed to use GCC instead. ;)
