We would need new a hosting provider, or set up our own server.

If you want to be technical, the domain www.prizmwiki.co.cc is registered with two hosting providers  :P
All I would have to do is point the domain to the other one two switch.

Well I got 105 GB left on my 1and1 webspace and about 11 on Omni webspace. THat would be more than enough I think. However, if Mediawiki uses PHP, on 1and1 there may be occasional 500 Internal Server Errors on peak periods. Otherwise uptime would be pretty good, though. I would have to setup a FTP account to the appropriate person so he can upload the files.

Adding documentation for the Casio BASIC language.

EDIT: Err, and a lot of Admin Template spam as well  :P

Did you get plenty of spambots or something?

There are lots of things I've been trying to improve with the wiki recently, but it's just too slow for doing anything useful. What should take a few minutes can take up to hours since pages load so incredibly slowly. Is there anything we can do to make it faster?

Hmm this sucks. THere was no way to back up the content, right? A wiki software is very slow. Even on the previous UTI server I tried hosting one once for the xLIB Guru and it took 1 minute per page. I bet even 1and1 is slow for such things. My other host would be fine, tho, providing you don't need to upload like 100 files of 4 MB each.

Change the host :P

I'm not sure I can restore the backups to a new host, though.

I've got .txt files of every page in the main, category and image namespaces, so we could re-add the pages pretty easily to a new host (but not the users and talk pages and history).

The fact that you don't have history is probably a good thing...  <_<

I think it's fine. People can just register maybe and history isn't necessary unless someone vandalize the thing one second before you backup.

I've got the backup made already and I check for new edits every day, so there shouldn't be any trouble.
