"welcome to the world of computers, where everything seems to be based on random number generators"
try sending it a new OS if possible?
What were the results of the USB thing Jimbauwens told you to try on IRC earlier? Also this sucks if the calc broke. Did it break due to letting it connected to USB for too long? I heard stories about devices being fried over USB like Mic's TI-Nspire a few years ago (although IIRC that was a bug in OS 2.0.0) and sometimes it was caused by a sudden increase in power sent over the USB ports.Regardless of why it broke, I hope they send you a new one for cheap. Also did you try turning the calc ON while holding down OPTN and EXP? This opens the diagnostic menu. There's another key combination too, but I forgot what it was.
Hmm both are the same. At least I'm glad you have the receipt still, though. Hopefully you can get a new calc soon. Some companies tend to take a long while to process customer issues. X.x
What I like about certain stores over here is that during the first year of warranty, you just have to send the calc back to the store where you bought it, so you don't have to ship it to the company, and you even get one as replacement immediately at the store. It isn't the case for every store, though. For extended warranties, now Staples also lets you bring back the calc to the store, but I believe such warranty costs between $40 and $120 (basically, you may pay your calc twice)
Flyingfisch, It sounds like you tried the correct procedures. Try brand new batteries and then press the reset button? If that doesn't work, here is the support information link. http://www.casio.com/support Best Regards John Andersen Technology Coordinator Education Division CASIO AMERICA, INC. 570 Mt. From: flyingfisch [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 1:22 PM To: Andersen, John Subject: Casio PRIZM will not turn on Hello, I had my PRIZM attached to the computer via USB and after about 10 minutes the turn off screen displayed (you know, the white one with the casio logo on it). I did not have it in receive mode. It didn't turn off, it was stuck at that screen. none of the buttons would "wake it up" so I pressed the reset button on the back. The screen went blank. I unplugged it from the computer and tried to turn it on with AC/on. nothing. I popped all the batteries out and put them back in. nothing. I tried plugging it back into the computer and pressed the reset button. still nothing. I even tried popping the batteries while it was plugged in and replacing them and it still won't turn on. Is there anyway I can fix this or should I send it to casio? -- flyingfisch
