I'd say, when the demo is finished, about 20%. I doubt this game will be terribly long, so I might put in alternate endings and things so you'll want to go back to find everything.
As of now, I'd say around 15-19%. A demo is pretty imminent.

Heh, my forest looks more like the side of a mountain... but fortunately, it's a small, single-room dungeon that will mark the end of the quick demo. Basically, the demo is supposed to give a small taste of the story and gameplay involved, introduce major characters, etc. I think I might even have a new game + kind of thing, where you can replay the game after you've beaten it with a few special items.
Also, I did another sprite overhaul... they look crisper and more accurate now. In case anyone is wondering, you can find some excellent sprite creators at this website:
http://charas-project.net/
They have 3 web-based creators and one downloadable one... the .exe one is much easier and faster, but it has far fewer options... it's a lot of fun to play around with in your spare time, and the stuff that comes out of it is really good. I'd suggest you give it a look.
I'd also like to mention that Joe is one of the most messed-up RPG heroes ever. Just keep that in mind. He's not your stereotypical anti-stereotypical RPG hero either... he's just... weird. I based one of the conversations in the game off of one I actually had...

Okay, well, uh, progress was non-existant until recently when I just picked it back up. I've added a few extra scenes, and I'm not making any promises. However, I've delayed work on the actual game because I'm working on a custom boss theme song.

Well, uh, I've got some great news then. I got the proper work ethic (finally!), and I've completed the short demo! Unfortunately, I'm going to have to experiment tomorrow on figuring out how to make a "gamedisk" and then how to get it to run on other computers in the first place... and I'm gonna draw a cool title screen for this game, too. After that, though, a demo is definitely going to be submitted. It's a tad short, but it's rather fun.
In the meantime, if you plan on trying the demo, you'll need to download and run this:
http://www.gamingw.net/file/util/RM2K3_RPG_RT.exe
Please, please, PLEASE, before you run it, rename the file to:
RPG_RT.exe
Otherwise, it won't work correctly! Basically, it contains the default system graphics, fonts, etc. It's a rather small file, I believe. It'll be included with the game, obviously, but you may want to get a head-start now.

lol, yeah, it is cool, but I didn't make it... for some reason it won't let you edit icons... it should work fine when I release the demo... instructions will come later.

Okay, well, I've been working somewhat through the morning, and I'm glad to say that the demo is now officially complete! The file is a whopping 16,000 KB, however... and that's when it's compressed into a zip! I'm going to upload it to my own server before I make anyone else carry this huge load... It's gonna take a while.
Edit: It's up, but it's massive!

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure exactly how you can get it to work. The installation is really weird... if no one can install it, I'll pack an installed version into a zip and I can try that.
