This thread is for discussing about Illusiat 5, a PC game by DJ Omnimaga, how to run it, updates about recovering the graphics from the exe and maybe talks about a remake.
So Geekboy and I are recovering the graphics from the .exe... So far it works, the files are uncompressed in the exe. Updates soon.
Download it here:
http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=140
Extraction results:
http://juju2143.ca/illusiat5/illusiat5pics.zip
(JPGs converted to PNG and GIFs not animated due to limitations of my custom script)
Possible offsets:
http://juju2143.ca/illusiat5/results3.txt
(have fun picking up which ones are legit) (EDIT: rewrote the script to clean it up and to be more accurate)

How to run Illusiat 5: An Helpful Guide because nobody figured it out yet by Juju
1. Download the latest version of AniGif:
http://jcomsoft.com/anigif.htm
2. Copy AniGIF.ocx in C:\Windows\System32 (32-bit) or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (64-bit)
3. Run as administrator: regsvr32 anigif.ocx
Et voilĂ . It works. That was pretty simple. Tested on Windows 8 64-bit.

It says "The module "anigif.ocx" may not compatible with the version of Windows that you're running. Check if the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe."
(I followed all your instructions, although I don't know which version is the latest. I tried Animation GIF ActiveX 2.4.7.
Thanks for the images by the way, although I think fortytwo's are corrupted.

Do the images at least show up? All but one worked on my computer, I think that one will have to be done manually. Some of them are also missing peices and might need to be fixed manually too.

Yeah they mainly missed pieces or weren't animated, but again, juju's animated GIFs weren't animated either.
I can't believe how primitive some of the art in this game is, but I think it would still kinda be fun if people had a way to try the game just to see how it looked like. There's a 84+ version but since it's monochrome and TI-Basic, all images were redone. I was contemplating an HP Prime touchscreen version.
EDIT: Ok I found an alternate solution. The issue is that on Windows 7 64-bit, you have two Regsvr32 files, one in System32 and one in SysWOW64. Juju's method launches the System32 one by default, which is why it didn't work. I just manually navigated to the Syswow64 directory now and it worked.

On an offtopic note I tried the same thing with The Reign of Legends 0, which uses DAXCTLE.OCX, and no luck. This one gave me a file not found error when trying to register it, even if it was there. However that one works on XP so it's not as bad, plus one day, maybe I'll finally finish the RPG Maker remake of it. (Although it uses new graphics, so it looks different)
