Hey, it could...
Part... um... 7! Oo, the epilouge type thing before the next story!
A Few Amazing Months Later, on May 15th?
Today was a very special day for Esther. It was her sixteenth birthday.
Joe decided she deserved something special. He was like that. He really didn?t care too much about himself anymore, and begun to spend his time, money, and anything else within arms? length on her. And that was his life, for the most part.
Fortunately for Joe, he had imprinted on her quite a bit. Once her soul had been returned to her, Esther?s new-found willpower attempted to adjust her personality and mind to the real world rather than that of an escaped lab experiment. It was rather hard for her, obviously, but she was getting used to it. Joe was patient enough with her to withstand her slight personality deficiencies, and he really didn?t mind.
That is, as long as she didn?t get him in trouble because of it. And as long as she kept out of the coffee, which made her incredibly hyper. She had become almost childish, and wasn?t always very mature. When she wanted to be, she could suddenly become very elegant and formal in her personality, and had a tendency to drink too much wine when offered. This usually resulted in her becoming somewhat immature again.
Basically, Joe had to try his best to keep her away from most liquids.
It was also important for her to stay away from heavily sarcastic people, since she had a tendency to believe anything anyone told her.
This wasn?t entirely possible today. Her party was nearly over, and most of her friends had already left. In fact, the only people remaining at Joe?s house besides the host and the birthday girl were Laurie and Katie. They had both given her some sort of gift. Joe didn?t really pay attention to what they got her. She showed her presents to him, but he zoned out and couldn?t pay enough attention to tell what they were. Something was on his mind. Something big. Which would make a lot of sense, considering that he didn?t give Esther a present yet. They were all sitting at their dining-room table in a circle, with Joe sitting right next to Esther.
Katie noticed this, and decided to break an awkward silence after most of the louder guests had left.
?So Joe, did you give Esther a birthday present yet??
Esther just realized that she hadn?t received a gift from her boyfriend.
?Babe, did you forget to get me something? I mean, well, you always seem to forget these things??
?Huh?? Joe snapped to attention. ?No, I didn?t forget? I just wanted to wait until we were alone to give it to you??
?When you are alone, huh?? Laurie interrupted. ?I?m guessing this is something a bit? adult??
?What? No! It?s just, that??
?I think you should show us now, then, because I?d like to see it!? The two were getting in that argumentative tone again. Esther and Katie did a twin sigh.
?Well, uh? I dunno, it?s just that it?s very special, and??
?I could leave if you want me to.? Katie interrupted.
?No, that?s okay, I guess. If you guys would like to see what I got her, I guess it?d be alright. You did help us out a lot??
?That?s very sweet of you, Joe!? Esther?s heart rate was increasing as she anticipated what it could possibly be. It has to be special, she told herself, if he wanted them to be alone.
?Well, here it is.? Joe reached into his pocket and pulled out something shiny. ?I made it while we were in my mind, when I had first met you? I knew from that day that I would be loving you more and more every day, so I put all of my conscious thought??
?? which isn?t much??
?? Laurie, be quiet. Anyways, I focused and focused and concentrated and, well, it kinda made this.? He handed it to Esther. It was some sort of ring, made out of what appeared to be platinum. It was encrusted with jewels that the likes of which the world has never before seen, jewels that contained prismatic colors that sparkled brilliantly in almost any light. The beauty was so distinct that it was almost ethereal.
?Joe? this? this is??
?Oh my God, he?s asking you to marry him!?
Esther gasped. Laurie was being sarcastic. But then again, Esther couldn?t really tell. Katie didn?t know quite what to add. Joe?s eyes were busy popping out to abnormal levels.
There was an awkward silence for a while, with Esther alternately looking at the ring and at Joe, utterly shocked. Then, she exploded like she had just drank several cups of espresso.
?I never in my life thought you would do this right now and actually want to marry me! I mean, I knew you loved me but I didn?t know that you would be willing to get engaged so fast! Wow, this is so exciting! I feel like I?m going to faint but I won?t and even though this feels like such a dream it?s not and I just want to hold on to you forever, and now I can! You?re so brave and smart and clever that you knew I would love this and I do and I will marry you and we?ll have a beautiful wedding and I?ll make sure to invite everyone and tell them what a great fianc
