Things made in PowerPoint
« on: October 30, 2010, 12:33:46 am »
On IRC today, we ended up talking about making games in PowerPoint.  I just happened to have a really cool old math project on my Google docs, and DJ figured that the rest of you may be interested.  It has a super secret surprise theme, don't spoil it!

Freakishly long link:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B1AfyYYD6YT9MmI1OTljMTgtYWI0NC00ZWRiLTg5NGItNWRiNzNlN2JiNmEw&hl=en&authkey=CMj22fwE
*Note that this is a PowerPoint file, I just stuck it inside a .exe file, because I am cool like that.

I also have a couple of mazes I made, one with moving parts.  If the above file goes down well I'll take the time to upload those too.

If anyone else has a cool PowerPoint thing, please share it with us!

This is was my 8th grade computers project. We had to make a video using custom animations, so I overkilled it and spent like 30 hours on this (which at the time was a lot). The other guy is my teacher and my hair is not nearly that long any more.

I've never published a powerpoint before, but it looks like play.bat should get you going in the right direction.

You can build a statue out of either 1'x1' blocks or 12'x12' blocks. The 1'x1' blocks will take a lot longer, but the final product is worth it.

Unfortunately I never got far in PowerPoint so I never made much in it. I made some Visual Basic games available in the download section, if anyone can get them to work or help me figuring out how to get them to work, but nothing else really, when it comes to computers. I remember someone made a full animation in PowerPoint, before.

Btw nice game you got there. :D I liked the Pokémon style. Nice animation Thepenguin77 too :D

I remember my freshman year I started working on an "idiot test", along with some avoidance/click the right picture games.
Hmm...I want to finish it now...

Argh, it's not on my flash drive.  I guess it's in my "my documents" folder at school...It'll have to wait until Monday

Here are two mazes I made a couple of years ago.  Because of the lack of images, I was able to actually attach both.  If you look at them you will be able to see vast improvement between the first and second.  I just looked these over, and realized how non-funny some of my text is.  Please ignore my dumb comments :)

thepenguin, I tried to run your PowerPoint a couple of times, but I got odd freezing as soon as your clones appear.  What I saw so far looked great though, and I was especially impressed with the turning skis on the opening scene.

I didn't knew PPT could do that O.o. That's kinda cool in some ways, especially how you had the collision detection and stuff, plus moving platforms. You should maybe port it to calcs or something, or to another computer language. Level 4 was kinda hard at first but it really got hard around the level with red buttons. Too bad Powerpoint combined with Windows lets you cheat, though D: (*cough*Windows key*cough*)

I made a nice maze game on ppt, in 2008 but i think i lost the file. you navitage your mouse around all these shapes and if you touch the shapes in the game, you lose.

but michael.3545 your game is better. however you have to start from the beginning every time. i allowed players to restart the level though.

Here are two of some of the things i have made in powerpoint.  Haunted House is a point and click adventure style game with the theme of a haunted house.  Its a bit buggy and hard to follow, so you can just take a look around and see what you can do.  If you need help hollar :P crAZy game is one of those games where you need to stay on the path to get to the exit, and this one is VERY hard.  If you fail you can either restart or jump into a savepoint by going into any of the slides.

Interesting stuff. I kinda liked that maze game although one part at the ending was hard o.o. How do you get through it fast enough? O.O
