I have checked through google for 2 hours and no luck. I am trying to find a software that can convert any (and when I say any, I really mean with no exception) MPG/MPEG files to DVD-compatible format or something that can burn them directly on a DVD and that allows that DVD to be played in any DVD player that supports recordable DVDs? I got a big bunch of mpg files right here, tried to import them into Nero burner but it said the files needed to be VOB or something like that. I tried a MPG to VOB converter (Cucusoft DVD Author - MPEG to VOB Converter) and with most of my video files, it kept saying they were in incompatible format and that I needed to buy another software that could convert them. Any help? I need the DVD to be playable in any DVD player, even those that are used with a TV, because it's someone IRL who asked me if I could burn him song videoclips on a DVD and that person doesn't have a computer.

There is an interesting relationship between VOB files and MPG files :)  When i rip files off of DVD's that i have burned (That can be played in dvd players) they are VOB files.  All i have to do is rename them to MPG files and they work perfectly XD.  I don't know if this will help, but maybe you can get nero to accept them this way?

I use Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ For MP3s, you need to find LAME also. http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/
Good luck!

Mhmm so far that Geekboy1011 thing he posted works it seems. I'll have to wait until more files converts, though, to make sure all 13 files are compatible and that they play on dvd

EDIT: mhmm doesn't appear to be too good so far :/. It won't autoplay on the PC, so I doubt it will even run on a real DVD player. I'll try anyway when my bro stops using the TV, though.

oops I forgot to update this because of last night. Finally it worked, except the menu selection boxes were a bit off. I simply used the software you linked to, but I did not burn with it, I just created the DVD files, then I put them in Nero Burning ROM then burned using that

You can use XMedia Recode (site is in German, but the program includes an English interface) to transcode files to DVD-supported AVI or MPEG4. (but you need your own burning software) All you have to do is select the "DVD Player" profile from the format tab after loading the media, and then "Add Job" and "Encode."

If you want to author your own DVD menus, you will need something like DVDStyler. These are all free, by the way.
