Acers tend to be cheaper for that they offer, actually, from what I noticed. At a local store, two computers with the same specs had a $200 difference between both because the cheaper one was an Acer.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 1536 MB. It has high memory, but I'm not sure if it's good otherwise. Some 32 MB cards trumps 128 MB ones. Example: my old Intel Celeron 128 MB card has no pixel shader 2.0 support, but some 32 MB cards do, it seems.
Yeah, makes sense. With nvidiA cards, cards ending in 300/30 and below are low end, for just video acceleration and the most basic of games, 400-600 is for budget gaming, and 700+ is high end. And with two series, the performance boost for the card with the same suffix is not very big, so a 7900gtx can beat a 9400gt. I don't even get why a low end card needs so much memory, it has the same amount as a gtx 480.

boy, your budget is a lot higher than mine. You can use old 8000 geforces for most games (including WoW and HL2, heck, I'm using a 7200 GS for Portal!). That's what I call low-budget. A 230 would be amazing to me :P super low-end would be integrated (shudder)

Render farms need way more video mem than GPU (ratio) compared to gaming pcs.

Yeah true. One day I might actually upgrade it, if my mobo supports it (well... assuming the one in my comp isn't integrated and that new cards fit), although now I am kinda fine. Starcraft II still looks awesome even at medium shaders setting, since shaders are all I get perfomance drops with. With everything but shaders maxed out and max res, I get 40-60 FPS unless I'm on a Fastest Money Map mid-game.

For the 500 series, nvidiA got better chip yields, so now the 570 has 480 cores activated, like the gtx480 does.

I see. I just bought my computer about 10 months ago, but I got a bunch of money left which I could easily put on a better graphic card. :D I was waiting to see if I would get a PS3 but there are no game interesting me on the PS3 and the ones that would are already available on the 360 or PC.

:) well, as always, I added some more nice goodyness! This time, I switched from newegg to amazon because of a $50 price reduction (wow that makes me now $20 from braking even!). Also, I have added a super cool logitech z2300! This amazing 2.1 speaker system has a killer subwoofer (200 watts!!) and plays bass i love you pretty sweetly from youtube video's. :D

edit: lol i forgot link: http://amzn.com/w/1S707H62PO0QS  XD

is this replacing another pc? If so, you could cut another $20 by reusing an older drive.
