yeah, you will always have to have both the desktop and laptop on to use the Internet on the desktop, and crossover cables can be a pain at times.

Q1: the repeater should just send any signals it recieves (acts as a go between, extends wifi range).
Q2: if the router, repeater, and Wii all use the same network style (802.11 B/G or A)
Q3: a little bit, but don't worry about it.

w00t, I get paid tomorrow, then I will see how long it will take me to get this. Also, Im forcing my dad to move the router to a more central location so I can connect easier.

I can get the core parts(Motherboard, CPU, Case) I have an OLD cdrom I should be able to install an os onto, and I have a semi-spare HD I can rip out of my internet gateway computer(This computer is replacing it anyways).
Also, My dad had a spare 802.11B Linksys card that Im putting in it.
