I personally wouldn't pay that much for a keyboard or a mouse.

Trust me, I haven't seen a G15 in action, but the G7 mouse is definitely worth it. It's super-lightweight, has weights you can add to it to make it fit you perfectly, it's got 2000dpi resolution, and it even has sensitivity settings on the mouse! This is ridiculously handy when playing FPS. You set the lowest setting on the mouse to where you regularly play at, then you know how it gets really slow if you jump in a tank and try to turn the turret or go prone to snipe? Well just whip the sensitivity up to max! I dunno, I played with it some and loved it.

The G15 keyboard I expect will be equally awesome as it's in the same line of products. Andy_J on #tcpa has one of them and he says it pwns all. It even has an LCD that you can see your game stats on. But yeah, if I don't have enough money for G15, I think I'll go down to G11 which is almost the same but minus the LCD.

EDIT: sweet, I was looking it up, apparently the LCD is fully programmable too and comes with C and Python devkits! =D

Also... the newegg prices on those are about $15 less than the regular store prices and what's on the logitech online store. :Ptongue.gif

I just learned something interesting - apparently the E6300, though it has a slower stock speed than the E6400, handles overclocking much better. Seems like, you can get the E6300 all the way up to 2.7GHz w/out much difficulty. Also, that knocks another chunk of $$$ off the price of a new 1337 tower. =D

Got me thinking...since so many people can build their own computers for less $$$ and more customization, has anybody done it with a laptop? :???:confus.gif

Actually, nowadays, building one's own computer often doesn't save money.

That's true. It's more expensive now.

And just get a personalized laptop, I think.

Very very untrue, I don't know much about the lower-end computers, but with high-end gaming PCs you can easily save over $500 by building it yourself as opposed to buying a Dell XPS or Alienware system.

Laptops on the other hand are just the opposite. Buying laptop parts separately actually costs more than buying it prebuilt. Also, one thing I noticed was the only diy laptops are those gigantic ones that weight 10lbs+. You know the kind, with 17" monitors and super graphics cards and stuff. Anyways, there are no diy laptops with small form factors which is important to me.

The point is, never ever buy a pre-built desktop and always buy a pre-built laptop.

Well... according to most people's needs, a preconfigured system is actually cheaper. If you are a gamer, then you can save money IF you buy online. Otherwise, it is still expensive.

Companies such as Dell, HP, Gateway, etc. compete for the market so much that prices have dropped to insanely low points. If you want to buy a OK or decent computer, buy from a manufacturer. If you want to buy a specialized computer, buy online IF you can find good deals and no shipping ;)wink.gif.

Dell XPS 710: same specs I have above except 250GB hard drive and only 19" monitor and no fancy mouse & keyboard and no fancy speakers. $2018.

Alienware Area-51 7500: same specs except with vista (no option for XP) includes fancy monitor, speakers, and m&k, and has a fancier motherboard (about $80 more on newegg I think). $2324

My cost, buying parts seperately on newegg: $1284.90 (I did more tweaking)

Uhhh yeah... I think these numbers kinda speak for themselves. ;)wink.gif Holy goat-nipples batman, that's an even bigger difference than I thought! O_Oshocked2.gif If you can configure a pre-built PC with the same specs I have there that costs less, I'll eat my socks. :Ptongue.gif

Like I said, you're looking for very specific components and you are buying online...

It doesn't matter whether or not you buy online, I could go to Fry's and get similar prices on all the stuffs I want. I just prefer newegg is all. :)smile.gif

Also, it's a pretty generic gaming box. A medium-ish next-gen gaming computer always ends up over $2000 when buying prebuilts.

EDIT2: meh, looking at benchmarks and reviews for cedega 6.0, looks like I"ll have to dual-boot xp pro still for some games. :Ptongue.gif They lie on their site. >:0 Also, it hates steam roflol. XDsmiley.gif

Hmm... that's strange because I went to Frys and choose some components and found out that an HP with almost identical components was cheaper by a significant amount.

Really? O_Oshocked2.gif I'd like to see that :oohmy.gif On the fry's website, I couldn't find anything the same as what I have, but I found 2 that are *kinda* close.

http://shop1.outpost.com/%7BJvc1R0YT5dBsvmoTe6jF8Q**.node2%7D/product/5187826;jsessionid=Jvc1R0YT5dBsvmoTe6jF8Q**.node2?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG is one. It has bigger HDD, less graphics, no monitor, and cheapo m&k. It still costs more and it's one of those weird media PCs.

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5200527?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG  is another, it has a better graphics card, so at least it has a reason to cost more. Monitor is not included in this one's price either and the m&k included are cheaper too. I actually kind of like this one though. It doesn't seem overpriced. It still costs more than it would to buy the parts separately, but nothing ridiculous like $1000 like the Dell and Alienware ones. I can see this one being worth the extra $$$ to have it put together for you. Still, since I actually do know how to put computers together (not like it's hard lol) I see no reason why I should pay the extra money to have it done for me, and I still hold to my decision that it's better to build it yourself.

Ok. I forgot that you wanted a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and everything (but no real difference, but you're looking for really "hardcore stuff" in my opinion). And yes, I agree that Alienware is overpriced. And I presonally don't like Dells. :(sad.gif
