Windows Screen Borders
« on: February 26, 2012, 09:18:08 pm »
I'm not sure what this is called but what I want to do is make windows not display windows in non-fullscreen on the top 45(approximate) pixels and bottom 25 pixels(approximate)+whatever the size of the windows taskbar is so that I can use VBox seamless and have it look/work a lot nicer.

Also is there a way to have a program not appear in the taskbar. I'd like to do it by process or something like that because it would be started on startup and it would be annoying to have to set it up every time I turn on my comp. I know how to do it with devilspie in linux but not sure how to do it on windows.

Thanks in advance for any help
I currently don't do much, but I am a developer for a game you should totally try out called AssaultCube Reloaded download here https://assaultcuber.codeplex.com/

You are talking about Windows 7 right? I would suggest asking this on tom's hardware

Or SevenForums http://www.sevenforums.com

As for not appearing in the taskbar, You could have several desktops thing and hide stuff that you don't want in another taskbar. There used to be something called Deskspace or Yod'em discontinued.
Dexpot is a good desktop manager.

Tom's Hardware is kinda a bit more focused on the Hardware itself tho. But still has a nice software forum category.

I have been thinking about this, might as well just run multiple vboxes?

I dunno if that would solve the problem. I've used VirtualBox but sparsely and can't remember if it looked seamless enough. It might be possible to emulate an OS full screen and still have the taskbar from your host OS still available. But I think other forums are better in expertise on this. Maybe the VirtualBox forums, specifically for that issue.

Take a look at Nirsoft's website. They have a lot of goodies for stuff like this.
I'm sure that nircmd can hide windows out of the taskbar.
