That seemed to happen to my firend too.,.the contrast was too high for him...sometimes too low. The default contrast for doodlejump is good for my calc which is a 84+SE, but newer ones somehow have lower contrast by default...so adjust the contrast up by hitting 3 and then right arrow...then when you see it's good...press 2nd and u should be fine. it saves so u wont have to adjust again and again
