So, pick from the options. Poll options are respective to the images posted below.
If I did the poll right, you'll be able to pick three options. In the end, I'm gonna just tally them up and pick the ones with the highest votes.
The last poll option is there in case you have a transition that isn't there but would like to see. If you choose that, you absolutely MUST have an animated file to go along with it. Somewhat serious entries, please.
-
I've voted, but I'd like to say my fourth and fifth choice would be: Vertical lines moving horizontally and Diamond effect
I also liked A RANDOM ENCOUNTER! but I felt it didn't fit. It looked nice, though.
They all look excellent. Can you make the super secret one a program, so I can rickroll people at school? I'd love that! ;D Please let us have that, plus it looks excellent. I really, really, really want that in a program. ;D

Diamond effect
Fading to black
Small block spiral
These looks like the coolest IMHO and they weren't overly done before in old games or calc games
The rickroll one would be funny as an easter egg battle, though :P
Also what's the 9th transition? There's no preview of it

The 9th poll option is for people that have their own entries to put in. A sort of a "write-in" poll option in case someone still wants to contribute. The first post has been edited to make it clearer.
EDIT: I'm just going to leave this image here. I want to have an avatar and can't think of any good place to put it but ... HERE! Just gotta see if I can even do it.

oooh ok, thanks for clarifying
-
Voted! Does #07 have music? =P
Diamond effect
Vertical lines moving horizontally
Small block spiral

haha it would be funny if the game had some sound then suddently a rickroll kicked in :P
-
Yea, that would be the BEST THING EVAR!!!111!!!
-
The swirl is really cool...I like the diamond too. Heck I like them all. But I voted for the vertical lines.
-
I voted for Diamond. Fade to black was my second favorite.

You were able to pick up to three options. Did you miss-read that? :O
-
Oh! I didn't catch that D: And now i can't reset my vote :/
Well just let it be known that I voted for Diamonds, but also would have chosen fade-to-black ^^
-
I had to go with diamond. Quick and simple. I think some of them were just too... long? I guess when it comes to enemy battles/encounters, I want the transition to be quick and simple so I can get to the battle.

Builderboy, try to change your vote now.
-
Wewt! ^^ Thanks Eeems
-
Np ^^;

I guess I missed that too...I changed my vote now. Thanks Eeems

I guess I'd have to pick the horizontal lines. The others don't really strike me as "oh hey! A battle!" kind of transitions.
My vision of a "battle transition" would be quickly flashing white (fast fade to 0 opacity?) and then quickly fading in to the battle scene or maybe something kinda like Golden Sun's battle transitions:

I post this here because it's the most appropriate topic. I didn't post the image to the front page because this is unofficial and I was playing around with a blurring effect suggested (for other things) on IRC. This is the result, and does get strange results due to the dealings with grayscale.
EDIT: Augh. It was shot at high FPS mode. IE and Chrome users will see it rather slow-mo. but that's okay.
EDIT2: Grammatical typos. Argh "cold" Florida weather and sitting outside.

i like it! Altough it seems a bit buggy indeed. It might be hard to do with grayscale
