I am hoping to get more of a response to this here than at Cemetech...
No this isn't about the game, this is about the books.
There are three books, "The Fall of Reach", "The Flood", and "The First Strike".
If you have ever played Halo on your pc or X-Box, then you probably wondered "Why am I starting out in a Freezer? Who are we running from and why? Why do they hate our guts? How bad is this war? Why is the character refered to as 'The Master Chief"? Are there any others like this character?"
Book one begins by explaining who the Covenant are, and why they keep attacking us. It also shows us how the SPARTAN program got started, who started it, and gives more life to the "Master Chief" than the game did. You learn of the struggle with the Covenant, and how close the human existance is to extinction.
Book two is basically the game, which explains how the Master Chief gets around, how he feels about the situations, etc.
Book three explains the events between Halo and Halo 2. This also shows how Sergeant Johnson survives Halo, and the struggle to get back to Earth, to warn them of the impending threat.
Overall a great series of books, which helps put you in a different perspective than the game. If you are a fan of Halo, this is definitely worth a read.

I read book two, and thought it sucked in a bad way.
You can't turn a videogame storyline (especially one that is basically: aliens are bad- death to aliens) into a book.

Books one and three (I believe) were written by the same guy, whereas two was not. That's also part of the reason that 1 and 3 are better. Great stories, I've read all three of them, awesome if you ask me.

I did as well.
As for book 2... I would rather just play the game.
I was really hoping that the books continued, because I would like to know what happens to Dr Hasely and SPARTAN Kelly... Plus the other 3 or 4 SPARTANS, besides the Master Chief...

How does the Spartan in Dead or Alive 4 affect the storyline of Halo if it does at all?

I have never deen or heard of dead or alive... I would think that it has ne bearing, as in the first book they were named for an elite group of fighters in the Earth's distant past...

No, Team Ninja and Tecmo and Bungie teamed up in the making of Dead or Alive 4 (it's a fighting game btw) and Bungie helped add a female spartan designated Spartan-458 into DOA4.

Hmm... Interesting...
I still don't think it is fair that Halo3 will be x360 only, since it is gonna be a long time before I can afford that system...

I don't have the spec sheet with me, but I know everything is top of the line, and as fast as can get... The only thing that won't be maxed is the HD, I think 80 GB is good enough...

Yeah, but it would cost a lot more. I can always get a bigger one, and copy to the new hd, via Norton's.
Also, Eric S. Nylund is the Author that we like, but I have been unable to locate an email or mailing address... I want to let him know how cool the books are, and encourage him to do more. >D
