I never played it much but I've been thinking about trying some of the more RPG-ish ones at one point. I beaten the first Nintendo 64 one and played the 2nd one that was exactly the same but with a few small changes. It was so incredibly hard, though. X.x

I've played a bit of the old ones. The song "Bloody Tears" in Simon's Quest is by far the best song in all of the games.

the only version i've ever played was that calculator one. i got pretty close to beating it and then boredom set in. any sidescroller with realistic jumping(i.e. the player cannot change directions in mid air) turns me off.

Yeah that song is amazing. I also got a metal cover by SSH that is annoying but the original is just as cool.

I've owned all 3 NES Castlevania cartridges for allmost 2 decades and they are still working.
I love the original Castlevania and the Castlevania 3 games (both of them are similar), and I've won at both of them on true hardware.

Castlevania 2 (Simon's quest) was different but very nice. Although, it was incredibly hard and I've only won with an emulator and many save states.

1. Simon's quest was sorely flawed, while bloody tears rocked, I wanna know how they expected us to kneel at some RANDOM WALL with the BLUE crystal attached to make a fucking tornado appaer >.< (appaer was one of the many mispellings in the game)

2. Dj_Omni, how the fuck? that game is unbeatable with the nitro and magnadragia part. What demon are you D: (j/k) simon's quest and the n64 were the only castlevania games I know are fail

Critor, I play the first and third on a emu, but I do have DoS and PoR :D

64 version seemed really different from the style of the others. It was good, but it didn't feel like Castlevania. On top of that the 2nd one is a copy of the first to make more money but barely adds anything new.

I own Castlevania: Bloodlines for the Genesis and have played the Simon's quest for the NES. I also have beaten Symphony of the Night on the playstation. I wish I would have played the GBA ones (I think it was GBA versions) or any of them on the modern handhelds. I really got into Symphony of the Night. One of my favorites. I also played the demo of the new 3D Castlevania. Seems like a departure from the others.

Were the GBA ones the ones that seemed more RPG-ish? They had LV, HP, MP and the like, from what I remember. I was interested in them a while ago but I did not have a GBA back then. Were they any good?

I found the Castlevania series as one of the better series out there.

I think the first one that got me into it was Portrait of Ruin (I know, I started late). That piqued my interest in the series and from there I got into it with all the GBA ones(Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow, and Harmony of Dissonance). I've also played the DS ones (Dawn of Sorrow, Order of Ecclecia) and Dracula X Chronicles (which had Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood included in it). I've also played, but haven't beaten Castlevania 64 and Super Castlevania IV.

So yeah, I guess you can say I'm a Castlevania player. ;)
I do sprites and stuff, so yeah.

The one on ticalc seems pretty nice in the way it's close to the originals. I didn't play it much, though, as it seemed too hard. Also you need to delete most of your archive to play it as the VAT needs to me near empty to have the game fit in RAM.

w00t, when I find a way to get my DS to connect to our WPA router, or find a WEP router, wanna do co-op together in PoR?

and as for the ticalc one, it was ok, but had the same flaws as Simon's quest with all the misspellings and hard to do tricks
