Civilization V came out a while ago (21 sep for US, 24 sep for the rest), anyone tried it?
I think it is a good improvement, and much more realistic!!! Lots of things have been simplified too. I like where you can just view the game conditions (difficulty, type of map, length of game) through circles when you bring up the game menu.
(hopefully i can have a screenshot of this)

Not really. I personally was never much into the old ones because I prefered to just build a base, then an army then go destroy stuff, like in Starcraft and Warcraft. How is the 5th game?

Also someone really should write an Axe or ASM version of this or a similar game http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/10/104/104103.html (as Kerm seems busy with other projects)

I own IV but I don't play it much. I'm not the hugest fan of TBS games, I prefer RTS. But it is good and I do want to try the fifth one sometime.

I play- and mod- Civ 4.

I've played Civ 5 at my friend's house but I don't own it. I think Civ 4 is better right now.

However, I felt that way about Civ 3 when Civ 4 first came out (I actually bought Civ 4 pretty soon after release, then I threw it into a closet for a year or so before playing it again, but when I did I never went back to 3). So I probably will get Civ 5 eventually.

The userbars in my sig are links embedded links.

And in addition to calculator (and Python!) stuff, I mod Civilization 4 (frequently with Python).

I have never played any Civilization game.
But I like RTS, specially Age of Empire (1 and 2) and Empire Earth. :)

I like civ5. It has it's pros and cons.
It is a very different game to civ4. everything is changed. some i don't particularly like but overall i like it because it's very different to civilization iv(i own that with bts, warlords expansions too)

I play CivIII!
I actually really like TBS games.  In fact, just strategy games in general. :)
How much does it change from III to IV?

Ok, that's weird, because over 3 years later, I'm preferring Civ IV at the moment. More recently I really got into Civ IV, and was amazed at the depth of strategy and flexibility of options. The better I got at Civ IV, the more frustrated I got at Civ V for being out of balance, missing information and options (or hiding them away in menus). Civ V definitely has a smaller learning curve than Civ IV.

I play Civ IV more than V, although having both, with all expansions, mainly because I adore the RFC mod.

"Playing" Civ V is a great place to start, but it's more like breathing and eating it for me. I did just get the last DLC from the Humble Bundle though, so I'll have to try out III and IV as well sometime.

Yeah I got the Humble Bundle as well. I already own Civ 4 + 2 expansions.
I was playing Civ 5 yesterday and some parts almost feel like an RPG, levelling up or similar. I didn't really get that epic feeling of controlling an empire, rather controlling many 'bases' that churn out units.
