Prime is cool too, but I am stuck at a very hard part in the phazon mines. I have no idea if there is supposed to be a savepoint somewhere, but it seems like you have to take on hordes of space pirates. It's so frustrating to fight the elite ones with so little energy
Super metroid was the one that got me into retro. It was the first metroid game I ever played and it was on an emulator. Then I got my first snes so I could play metroid. I have beaten it numerous times, but I never 100% it.
Because zero mission was so similar to super metroid I really liked it.
Metroid 2 is a bit of a tough one. It realy makes you feel uneasy when you play it. It does set the mood, but you have to grind for health all the time. It's also a game that would benefit from an in-game world map. I got lost too often simply because I forgot where a door was. I have beaten it though
Metroid Fusion... not beaten it yet. Insane boss battles. Waaaaaah. It's a fun game though. Not very non-linear because of the computer telling you where to go and blocking off sectors. I am stuck at the final boss. I dunno how to beat it. I tried 20-30 times by now I think. You CAN die at the last part
Metroid prime 2 echoes: Not played yet. I want to play trough prime1 first
Metroid prime 3 corruption: Same deal
Prime Hunters: Meh. Terrible controls. Made my hands hurt. Copying and pasting enemies a lot. Looks neat though. Not as good as the gcn games.
Metroid other M: First modern 3d metroid I ever played besides prime hunters. I was really impressed by it, but the story was a bit annoying at times. I like the prime games better. They are a better metroid experience. The action and platforming in other M is superior though and really fun. I hope the next metroid game will be like this, but fix that was wrong with Other M.
Metroid NES: I have played this for a little bit on my gba. I do not own the original NES game yet. It's fun, but only for the hardcore NES/metroid fans. Cheap enemy placement makes this a really tough game.
