Ok I wonder if anyone was planning to buy themselves a Xbox 360 Elite (the black one)? If you plan so, don't! Get the normal Xbox 360 instead. You'll save yourself problems and money.
Here's why I am saying so: Since I got this console I got nothing but problems. The first three weeks I got it it would take 5 or 6 minutes for the wireless controllers to get recognised. Sometimes the 360 elite wouldn't even recognize any of them so I couldn't even play. That was even if I had fresh new batteries. I tried with 3 controllers and same result with all of them. Now I don't get this problem as much as I used to, it usually take between 3 and 10 seconds for them to be recognised. However, the microphone that came with my elite stopped working the first day I used it. Now I got a new mic, and 3 hours later it would stop working at all. Like if it wasnt even connected. So I thought it was the mic that had a problem, so i got it replaced, however the other one was not working either! So I tried with all my 3 controllers in case it would be the controller, and still no luck. I have everything set correctly as well in my settings. Now I know it is the console, because one of my friend said he knew lot of people who had the elite and got nothing but trouble like this with it as well. Everyone he know who have the normal 360 (the white one) didn't got any of those problems at all.
I guess MS staff built those new consoles very quickly and reduced production costs, explaining why the new xbox 360 is so unreliable.
Not using mic doesn't stop me from playing games but try playing Halo 3 missions with a group of friends with no mic. This is not to mention that I can't connect to their games at all sometimes.
So if you want a 360, get the white one, not the black one.
Thursday if I find my xbox 360 elite receipt back (I think I lost it) I will get it back from where it came (wal-mart) and get a 360 normal edition in exchange). If I lost the receipt I'll just go at EBGames and get a 360 in exhcange of the 360 Elite even if I have to pay some money for the exchange.

hmm, I would never get an elite but for a different reason. The only advantage it seems to have is the larger hard drive... and a 120GB drive is not worth $100 extra.
Anyways, all 360's are known to have hardware trouble--watch out for the red ring of doom! I think it's 1/3 360's end up going back to MS for replacement or some ridiculous number like that. Looks like elites especially, hehe.

yeah it has bigger harddrive. And yeah I know all 360 have overheating issues, you must put them in a place where the console can "breath" else you get that Red ring of death. My friend found a way to fix it though but i don't remember how I should ask him again and note it.
Seems like PS3 have overheating issues too tho, one even fried once.

Ha Wii FTW. I knew there was reason I wanted a Wii instead of an xBox. BUt I'll keep this in mind when I do get one.

Yeah wii isn't supposed to do this. Prbly because the console is much less powerful though (altough it have wicked good games too). I never heard report of overheating Wiis/gamecube like with the Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 so far. The console seems pretty fragile though so you need to handle with care :-P

Maybe they are trying to fit too much power into a pizza box case. They could have used laptop-ish parts in the 360 and ps3, but then it would cost a hell of a lot more. If I did buy a console though, I must say the 360 is looking surprisingly good despite it's hardware troubles. It has a fairly large selection of good games I would want to play, when compared to the wii which has zelda, smash bros, and... well the new mario game looks kind of fun I guess but that's it really.
They still haven't made any awesome light gun or sword fighting games. PS3 has... what does the PS3 have? o.o
Maybe in a year the PS3 will be better once there are more games for it.

Yes PS3 does have overheating problems which really should be expected when running 9 CPUs on 1 chip. Has anyone seen the PS3 grill on Youtube?
Also some games you might want to check out for the PS3:
Heavenly Sword
Haze
Unreal Tournament 3
Killzone 1 and 2
Resistance: FOM and Resistance: ROM(soon to come)
Ratchet and Clank
among others.

Also right now I would also just go with the regular 360 also. Even though it is known to have problems too.

they need to put colders (literally) in their console lol
what will it be when the xbox 666 and the PS4 is released? People in Texas, Arizona and Italy will no longer be able to play during summers due to excessive heat? I dont talk about nintendo because they usually aim for gamewplay more than power now so overheating may not be a big pb for them in the near future

stick it in a freezer lol, I know someone who did that and it actually worked.
I just want to play H3 and beat on legendary. That's about it for Xbox 360. I really just want a DS.

I wantt Final Fantasy III NES (original, not DS remake) ported on a console, not a s***ty ROM translation where text screws up at 1/4 of the game progress

but the new zelda just came out!
Yay for DS. I use it as an mp3 player more than a handheld console these days though, hehe.
As for the PS3 games you listed there, Haze and UT3 I will definitely get the PC release over the PS3 release. I don't give a rats a** about resistance fall of man either. The only ones on there that look interesting would be heavenly sword and ratchet and clank.

Haze isn't coming out for the PS3. It has been announced as a PS3 exclusive.
And also I am sorry to say. I don't think there will be a Halo 4 DJ_Omnimaga. Microsoft has released Bungie from under their management.
Spengo: Alright, if you feel that strongly.
Either way I am looking forward to Juiced 2, Dark Sector, UT3, and Haze.

There is slight changes that there will be a Halo 4. When Halo 3 ends, if u play in normal mode the end implies master chief dies, but if u finish in hard mode the end is extended and he is still alive in the ship getting lost in the space and tell the girl to wake him up when she needs to, implying there may be a sequel.
That said, maybe bungie will still continue the Halo series even if microsoft released bungie, since it's bungie who developped Halo? And maybe this is a good thing because they could consider porting Halo to other consoles like the playstation 3 since it will no longer be affiliated with MS, thus, not forced anymore to stay on MS consoles/OSes?
