If it was about graphics, I would have bought a Vita instead of a 3DS and would have stopped playing Melee.

Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Also, on the PC you only have Melee, Brawl and PM.
You forgot the original.

Plus, those who only get a console because of graphics seems to not realize that way back then, people had plenty of fun with graphics like this:

Well it's not all about graphics but this one is a bit too ugly for my tastes, like the original OoT :P
Plus, I couldn't find it in the retro gaming shop where I found Brawl and Melee -.-

Why "way back then" ? We still have fun with this kind of games on calc :D

Oh I meant people who only play console games in general. I even saw people complain that Watchdogs graphics are bad O.O

Also calc games in general have much better graphics than that Atari game :P

Looks like you didn't try it in 1400*1050 with 16x MSAA and 16x anisotropic filter + community retexture v6.

The problem is not the resolution, nor is it the anti-aliasing, nor does it come from textures. It's the low number of polygons in models. A cube in 1920x1080 is still a cube.

Bleh polygons. :P Also OoT runs at 20 fps for the NTSC version, and slower with 17 fps for PAL. But bleh.

To be honest I always found chars in OoT to be ugly and lacking polygons, even by N64 standards. They looked worse than some PS1 characters. Map and object graphics, as well as enemies were nice, though.

Well, the n64 was limited and OoT is pretty graphically intensive for it.

Yeah I just mean how for example in Super Mario 64, Mario looked more round than Link in OoT.

Lol tr1p. :P

Also MK64 looks like it uses 2D sprites for characters and karts like SMK.

Yeah most 64 games used scaled sprites for various objects like trees and sometimes even chars. This is why I think on the HP Prime, using the Triangle command to generate basic terrains or walls you wouldn't really need that much 3D rendering for the rest, although detecting if a sprite is in front of or behind a wall might be trickier.

There are probably also space constraints on the N64 because in OoT the maps are huge and the ROM is only like 64MB (or even 32 I don't remember)
