I personally didn't mind Warcract II too much, but the AI when moving units around was not smart. As for Warcraft III, the game is too slow-paced to be fun, IMHO. Nowadays most WC3 players use custom map scenarios and no longer play the real game. It takes like 5 minutes to build the simplest buildings, while in SC it takes one minute. Also in WC3 there's that low upkeep/high upkeep thing causing less minerals to be harvested when you have many units, which sucks when you want to attack often. The 90 units cap is also annoying. At SC it's 200 on most maps.

I got WC2, WC3, SC Brood War and SC2 installed but I rarely play WC.

Warcraft II was so popular that Blizzard almost made the mistake of releasing Starcraft as a very similar game.

Haha I remember seeing screenshots of that thing, it was looking kinda cool in some ways, but the current SC1 looks much better.

It's interesting, Blizzard took so much time balancing the game that they had lots of time to redo and redo and redo graphics

Yeah, at first people complained because it was too close to WC2 so they redid the graphics and started balancing afterward. Then they retouched everything they had until they feel it's good enough. I am curious how early alphas of SC2 looks like, if any... I bet one must have graphics looking really close to WC3 :P

Back in 2008, a third party was working on a WC3 mod that turned the game into SC in 3D. It looked pretty cool actually. I'm sure I still have the beta installed on my other comp. They vanished afterward, though.

Are there any more early Starcraft screenshots, btw? A website perhaps?

Wait how did you access a copy of it? O.O

I wish it was downloadable somewhere or that there was a Warcraft II mod to changes graphics to the old SC. O.O

If I remember, in the early alpha, overlords could attack.

Woah, now if only you still had a copy and could actually make videos of it! O.O

I wish it was leaked somewhere and that we could play it. I assume it would be buggy and unbalanced but I am the kind of person to love to see how things used to be in early versions of games or go back in time. Sometimes, I still play Starcraft Brood War, although I quitted Fastest Map Ever and Big Game Hunters because I am terrible at them now that I am so used to regular games and to a lesser extent FPME2.
