There's something I wish I would see more often: Action-RPG platformers. I mean like Zelda II for the NES or Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for the SNES, Turbografx-16, NES, Sega Genesis/Megadrive and others. Instead of a top-down view game where you explore a huge world and beat enemies to get stronger and gain money to buy new weapons, it could be platform/profile view. Some people will say Castlevania, but I really mean an adventure game, not a stage/level-based platform game where you beat each area one after another and cannot go back. Something like Metroid series, where you can explore anywhere, but with towns, NPCs and less futuristic.

Preferably, no world map would be better, since I like when everything is connected together.
