A New TI 84+ SE: A lemon?
«

Yesterday I bout a brand new TI 84+ SE. Unfortunately, it seems to have a problem. When you enter the graph menu, and some other menus, it pauses each time you scroll down, for several seconds. I even completely reset the memory, and it was unchanged. I compared with a friend's calculator (same model) and it doesn't have the problem. Is my calculator a lemon?

What is your OS version? This sounds like an OS 2.53 problem, though I wouldn't know for sure.

It's the regular OS 2.43. For some unknown stupid reasons, this version is no longer available on the american site, just on the Singapore APPs one.

Yeah, 2.53 is a piece of BS. Random stuff like that happens.

btw I just realised... are you from USA? Because over here in Quebec, in french some people (mostly 40 years old until baby-boomer age) use the idiom "a lemon" when it comes to defective stuff we buy new at store.

So I installed the OS, and it gave me an error on the calc and TI-Connect. The calc told me to press any button to turn off the calculator, and then to turn it back on. When I turned it back on, the RAM cleared screen came up, and it froze. So, I took a battery out, and when I turned the calc back on, it seemed fine. Is that the end of it?

Does it say OS 2.43 now?
If so, then yes. That is the end of your problems in regards to the OS.

It does, yes. Thank you. Well, it says 2.43 not OS 2.43, but meh.
Does anyone know why it might've given an error but still worked? If it helps, it said something about distribution/disambiguation (one of the two) lists.
