You can find the list of known version differences on WikiTI here. 1.17 and 1.18 both have no known changes. 1.19 does something with TI-Navigator, enabling its apps to write apps and appvars to write directly to Flash. I think, anyway- the text is a little corrupted.

The userbars in my sig are links embedded links.

And in addition to calculator (and Python!) stuff, I mod Civilization 4 (frequently with Python).

I hope it's not the Flash being worn out... but it's less likely to be the case. Apparently it should take decades before this happens. If it happens before, it is probably the Flash being defective or something, causing it to wear out earlier.

Basically the data in the sector gets corrupted, and you can no longer write to it. Pretty much the end of the calc at that point.

I just started the flash self test, so we'll see what it says.

Spoiler For Projects:

My projects haven't been worked on in a while, so they're all on hiatus for the time being. I do hope to eventually return to them in some form or another...

Spoiler For Pokemon TI:
Axe port of Pokemon Red/Blue to the 83+/84+ family. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia:
My big personal project, an original RPG about dimensional travel and a few heroes tasked with saving the world.
Coding-wise, on hold, but I am re-working the story.

Spoiler For Finale's Super Insane Tunnel Pack of Doom:
I will be combining Blur and Collision Course into a single gamepack. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia Origins: Sky's Story:
Prequel to Nostalgia. On hold, especially while the story is re-worked.

I've never done a self-test before, so I don't know how long it's supposed to be, but it's still going. I've seen the 'testing flash' screen three times, and in between each time, the number it counts to before it jumps back to 'testing flash' gets higher.

I know it's supposed to take a really long time, beacuse a couple years ago, when my friend and I knew almost nothing about our TI-83+'s he found and triggered the self test on his to see what it did. It took an entire weekend supposedly...

Ehhh... Maybe I should have explained further. The flash test takes roughly 2 minutes. It then repeatedly tests your ram forever. So if the numbers even appear at all, your flash is fine.

Now you should press enter to finish it up. ;)

Success, then! Only problem now is finding why the random crashes happen.
Does 1.15 still work successfully? You might have some strange hardware revision that crashes with 1.19...

OK. Then could my problems possibly be coming from a bad back-up battery?

On the about screen it says I have Cert Revision #2. Is this not compatible with OS 1.19?

I can't see why. The calc should run fine even w/o a backup battery.
If that's the problem, you have some messed-up hardware...

I'm trying to send it OS 1.18 now, to see if that fixes any problems.

Edit: Nope. When I press 2nd and * at the same time, I still get a crash. That probably means the random crashes still will take place.
For those who need to know, according to the about menu, it would appear I have certificate revision #2. Would this have anything to do with the crashes?
