I'm emulating an Nspire.
« on: March 25, 2013, 02:03:35 pm »
If this is illegal, delete it immediately as I do not support pirating.

I found this site. What should I get from it to emulate a Ti Nspire CX CAS OS 3.1 (newest Ndless supported OS) that I will put Ndless on? I'm just emulating it to get a feel for it before I get it.
Also, a brief HOW-TO on emulating it when i get my files in order!
Keep trying.

You just need a boot1 image. The OS can be downloaded from TIPlanet from which you can extract he boot2 image. That's all for the calc files.
Then use nspire_emu (you may prefer kArmTI since it's more user friendly and has skin support). ;)

I'm personally using the boot1 I had a friend dump for me from his calc. :P

Yeah the other Nspire emu doesn't seem like a good idea :P
This is great, thanks! Idk what versions I'll need exactly but I'll figure it out.

So boot1 is the equivalent of a ROM from an 84+SE in this sense, right? What version will I need?

I also need a link to the newest Ndless compatible OS...

It's the first part of the boot code to be exact.
I don't think there's a specific version.

It isn't hosted anywhere I can find. So I will have to wait until I get mine.
OS 3.1.0.392 isn't either? I hate navigating these French websites...
Keep trying.

I meant there's no specific boot1, you just need a CX one.
And that's the correct OS version.

Yeah I have the files, just very confused. Please list what I need to run Nspire_emu_070 and to run kArmTI...
Keep trying.

For the CX emulation :
 - a boot1 file you dumped with a ndlessed CX with Critor's polydumper
 - a boot2 file you can dum also with polyDumper but which you can also extract from the OSes
 - the OS file (all available from TI-Planet)

You need either a boot1 file or a decompressed boot2, there's no need for both. Either way you need to use polydumper.

... for a CX. For Clickpad and Touchpad, unstripped OS >= 1.6 upgrades are enough :)

For the record, emulation with a copyrighted boot code (such as in a TI-83 Plus ROM file not using BootFree or TI-Nspire's boot1) is legal in the US if you own a physical copy of the device you're emulating.

So technically, it's legal for you when the calculator is yours.

I run it for the first time and it says "install failed" and stops there. If you need more debug info, lemme know.

EDIT:
The problem was because I had some OS stuff messed up. I had to do a lot of.. file manipulation to get it to work. :P

Don't take that personally, he's just saying that he doesn't understand French websites. I don't understand them either. I also don't understand Spanish or Russian sites.
