Also, that doesn't work on newer calcs. You should have precised on top of your tuto which calcs this works on.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Any ideas as to how "safe" this hack is? I ask because I had a TI-84+ CSE with a hex editor that, as a result of the hex editor crashing, prevented the calc from turning on again.   :banghead:

Normally there shouldn't be any way to permanently brick a TI-84 Plus CSE unless the hex editor lets you edit Flash/Archive memory and you accidentally erase both parts of the OS and the certificate. Have you tried reinstalling the OS?

As for the CAS to non-CAS hack, since running ASM/C programs or alternate OSes is very hackish compared to other calc models, almost everything that uses Ndless software is dangerous, although normally, you should be safe as long as you don't misuse the program called Nover nor do something wrong with the serial dock connector at the bottom of the calc.

We can't know exactly how many people have enjoyed native coding on their Nspire (CX), but I posted that a little while ago, here :
Quote
Oh and, on our (TI-Planet) part, Ndless 3.1, launched in late January 2012, reached 40k downloads a few days ago (or was it yesterday ?) and is the most downloaded file every week I believe (not counting exam stuff when it's exam time, though), and is the 1st overall (again not counting the exam stuff). Approx 71 times / day , 2100 / month.

If you're talking about specific nLaunch statistics, well, around 1000 times on TI-Planet least. (both classic and cx)

Add to that the many downloads on Ticalc.org (Ranked as 149 on our all-time top downloads list with 43617 downloads. Ranked as 32 on our top downloads list for the past seven days with 242 downloads.) and Omnimaga (ranked 4th with 3769 downloads).

Most people want to hack their Nspire CX because they either want the CAS OS on their non-CAS calc or they want Pokemans.

Ah ok. I should have specified hacking CAS onto a non-CAS CX Nspire.
Sorry for this noobish stuff, I am just worried about my Nspire bricking, for, as sad as this sounds, my Nspire is my baby :P
Also, I appreciate the tolerance and assistance, for I've had bad experience with other forums. Thanks!  ;D

No problem. Omni tries to remain as friendly as possible to newcomers, those who are new to the calculator scene in particular (since we all gotta start somewhere and the Nspire is particularly challenging when it comes to hacking) :) , unless of course somebody begs for help on doing illegal stuff or cheating on tests lol. :P

Is there a thread for Doors CS for Nspire CX?

Nah. Actually I don't think such shell would ever be needed for the Nspire considering we already run documents like Lua or Basic ones. On the 83+ we have DCS because it makes it less confusing to run ASM programs.

Ok thanks. Well my Nspire has the unreleased OS so I guess I'll just have to hope somebody updates this hack for the new OS :/

Oh wait do you mean it's a prototype? ??? If so, then which OS do you have?

It's not a prototype, just some weird idea TI had to put an unreleased (at least on their website as of a month ago). the OS on mine is 3.2.4.1237.

Oh ok lol. Yeah I remember that OS 3.2.4.1237 wasn't out yet at first, which would have caused serious issues for people who accidentally delete the OS off their calc. >.<
