I'd like to try doing that.  Could you please point me in the right direction? I can't seem to find a write up that works.  I've managed to install 2 OS's, but either they're both CAS or their not.  I used this guide.

http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=13213

I installed 3.1/3.2, but can't seem to figure out how to install one CAS and one non CAS.

Thanks!

You can mix and match OS's. I myself dual boot 3.1 CAS and 3.6 non CAS on my CX.

Thats awesome, and what I'm trying to figure out how to do.  I have the CXCAS version of the calculator and I also have the old touchpad Nspire as well.  I use them both, but if I could figure out how to install a version of CAS on the touchpad calc, I could use it and switch out the keypads for class.  Then I wouldn't have to carry around both calculators.

Is this impossible on the non CX version of the calculators?

It is very possible. Just take the 3.6 non CAS and 3.1/3.2 CAS from the switching packs.

Alrighty.. Thanks! I'm working on trying to make it go.  I've installed the non CAS 3.6 os.  Then downloaded the 3.1/3.2 switching pack.  I installed ndless and all its files.  Disconnect usb from the computer, or it hangs.  Then it reboots and and launches nandmngr I think?  Anyway, I follow the instructions and press 2 for boot 2 area, then boot 2 again to flash.

If I press 1 and select CAS, it comes up with a warning that the image is rejected as determined usage if flashed on this model.

So, I make sure that the boot order is Boot2, Diags.  Then press 0 to exit.

Now, it's time for Nlaunch.  I think this is the step that I'm screwing up.  Do I choose to install the CAS version from the get go?  Do I choose the non CAS version that matches my calculator and then when it asks for an OS install the CAS version there?

If I try to send the nlaunch.tnc to the calc when its at the "operating system not found" stage, I get the "wrong handheld type for OS being sent" message.  If I rename it to nlaunch.tno, it goes and installs the CAS OS, but it installs the CAS OS on both OS's.  I can't figure out how to install one of each. :banghead:

Send the nlaunch.tno. Your calc is not a CAS model.

The only way I can get the CAS OS installed is if I rename the nlauch.tnc to nlaunch.tno. Otherwise I get the OS mismatch warning. It installs the renamed CAS version thinking its the non CAS.  The only issue is both OS's are CAS then.  Ugh..

What you need to do is mix some files. Take nlaunch.tno and OS 3.6 from the non CAS pack, and replace OS 3.1 or 3.2 in it with the one from the CAS pack.

Man, I really appreciate all your help. but I can't seem to figure this out! I downloaded and installed the 3.6 OS and then followed the instructions.

In the switching pac, I can't find any OS's.  There are directories for the CAS and the non CAS versions, then nlaunch has 2 different versions but they aren't part of the CAS/nonCAS directories. Is it the phenix files? Is the the operating systems?

Actually I have no idea how the packs are structured because I did all that manually. :P I'll look into it tomorrow and make you a custom pack.

Yup, all the guides warn not to do anything with revision J or above.  Mine is super old though.  The touchpad that I'm using is revision C.
