And uninstalling the driver can be done through the Device Manager, accessible through the Control Panel, as I mentioned above :)

None :)
You need to remove the driver, then unplug the calculator, then reboot.
Afterwards, install TINCS or TILP, reboot, and plug the calculator.

They will be installed automatically when you install TINCS / TILP.

I'd swap two words in your sentence: Now [you] will reboot and it should work ;)

But if it doesn't, sometimes the calculator gets in a weird state and needs to be rebooted to get back reliable USB communication.

Now, I did. So how should I configure TiLP. I started TiLP and it said that USB cannot be found and stuff like that. And no devices found.

The driver in the device manager is TI Nspire(TM) Handheld device. Is this the correct driver?

It doesn't sound like good news with no devices found. Sometimes the calc needs a reboot and to be connected to the pc and turned on before you open TiLP.

Also something that I'm not sure might be possible is using the TI-nspire Computer Link Software. But not sure if it supports CXs as the software hasn't been updated in over a year.

What do you suggest I try?

Is the driver that I have the correct one or is there another one I need. I checked the driver date and it is over a year old. March 2010

TILP says that it failed to open the USB device.

BTW does TiLP or TINS support the nspire cx?

No, it isn't. TILP (libticables) calls the Nspire "TI-Nspire USB Device", the vendor is "Linux Programmers Group", and it appears in the "libusb-win32 devices" category.
Since it's not the driver TILP (libticables) uses, it's natural that it cannot find any of the USB devices it wants :)
TILP (libticables) and TI-Connect / TINC(L)S cannot use each others' drivers, for both licensing and trustworthiness reasons.

Try following the filter driver installation instructions in the README. It points you to the "Filter Driver Installation" section of http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/libusb-win32/wiki

Both support it :)
TILP II 1.16 supports obtaining screenshots from a CX, TINCLS (whose latest version predates the CX) doesn't.

Right now I am updating OS via TiLP. I still can't get a connection using Ti Nspire Student Soft. though.

I have the new OS. I cannot move files from PC to Calc via TILP and the Student soft is not working. THis is what I get when I want to move a game like snake to my calc:

I get the same message as before:

Okay, so to be sure, you uninstalled the drivers, restarted, then installed the drivers and then connected the calc (in that order)? I think that is the order...
