Yeah, even USA Today recommends the nspire (touchpad, of course). I saw it in some back to school gear guide. If all you are using your calc for is middle school/he math, the nspire is completely unnecessary. Just TI trying to make more money when the textbooks get updated.

Over here, in some classes, sometimes they gave us notes or books from the mid '80s. In English classes, during my 3rd and 4th years of hi school (2000 through 2002), our books were from 1987 and 1988 and in Biology, we sometimes had exams from 1984 and watched documentaries from the '70s. In math and french the books were from 1999 I think, though.

This is really funny because biology is still changing (even basic questions like kingdoms classification are not fully decided), while math is essentially static (well, there are new ideas and such, but not at high-school level).

Yeah I have no clue why they kept material that old at school sometimes. Granted, a lot of the things in those exams were things that did not change as much as others, but we could still notice some accuracies and the exams were too easy anyway. Also it was stupid because all questions had a letter choice called D) None of the answers above, yet it was never used at all. ???

All my books are current. Like, past five years.

I just hate how teachers LOVE to use videos from the 70's and 80's. I mean, I know it's supposed to be 'educational' but the terrible sound, the over-the-top acting, and terrible computer graphics detract from it. Not to mention that half the stuff you already know. :P

I just program whenever we watch one of those things.

Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

The funniest things ever are the health class videos.  I remember one video I had to watch on condom use, and the entire class was laughing through the whole thing because of the pathetic faked acting :)

But I think outdated videos and books are usually due to poor school budget. They don't bother updating because they can't afford newer stuff. Over here they're not doing too bad, though, considering we're a socialist country, especially the Quebec part of it.

yeah, ordering 100s of textbooks r not cheap for the school. if there are lots of outdated books the school does not have an as large budget for spending on new editions of the same books

My pre-purchased textbooks, with addition to a shiny new (emphasis on the shiny) TI-Nspire CAS Touchpad, have finally arrived :w00t: . I'm amazed at how convenient it is to have the majority of questions actually designed specifically for readers with TI-Nspire's ;D . The prior years have featured TI-84+, although with the absence of the exact same calculator (went for a cheapo K-Mart one) I was advised to skip entire units because of this. Regardless, the Aussie Government is now placing larger focus on TI integration than graph paper . Hooray for TI!!!

I just got a Ti Nspire Touchpad(non CAS), which came with OS 2.0 preinstalled. Does this mean I can get a clickpad separately and can use it instead of the annoying touchpad? I would also like to downgrade to OS 1.7 in order to use Ndless, and I know that OS 1.7 wont work with the touchpad. Is that all I would have to do to get Ndless working on my Nspire? ???

Any advice appreciated!
