nlaunchy Stuck on Upload
« on: December 10, 2014, 12:13:12 am »
Hey all,

I have a new account, but have been lurking around for years. I have an old Nspire Touchpad that I was trying to get nlaunchy on today, but kept on hitting a brick wall. I followed the guide (roughly) here: https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13213&lang=en
Here's my current setup
- boot2 version: 1.4.1571 (installed with nsnandmgr)
- removed OS downgrade protection (also nsnandmgr)
- /nlaunch/ folder with 'phoenix.tns', 'phoenix.tns.old', 'nlaunch.tns'
- /ndless/ folder with appropriate stuff (installer, resources, resources_36)
- erased OS via maintenance menu

The first problem (now solved) that I was running into was that the maintenance menu would not allow me to select option '2' to erase OS - 1 would reboot, 4 would ask to confirm, but pressing '2' didn't do anything. I found that if I tried several times (may be related to timing at which I released the button combo) I would be able to get option '2' to work. It was weird though - I hadn't seen any guides mentioning that problem.

When I got to the upload 'nlaunch.tno' part, I would reset calc, then select it in Nspire Computer Link, then upload, 'yes' to warning... and then it would do one of two thigns:
- computer stuck at ~55% progress, "please install OS now" on calc
- computer stuck at ~95% progress, "please install OS now" on calc

I had an idea that maybe I had to unplug the USB cable after it hit ~55% (like the nlaunchy github page suggests) but nope, same scenario. When I went to reset, I would press reset, re-move files into the calc, then reset again, then try to upload nlaunch.tno.

I also had the idea that maybe the most recent version of Computer Link (3.9.x) broke nlaunchy, so I tried installing & using version 3.2.x - still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated - while the use of nlaunch is not really necessary, I think it'd be cool to be able to use it, and if this is a problem other people are facing, we need to solve it.
