Panicking, Can't Install OS
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:38:42 am »
Please help as soon as you can!

I was trying to downgrade to 3.1 for my friend so I deleted the OS. I then couldn't install any OS! Even the latest one! Nothing is working. Please respond as quick as possible.

It depends upon which OS version was there before you did delete it.
Do you remember this?

And what's the error message?

How exactly did you fix it? I have the same problem and no matter what I do the calculator wont stop showing the "unable to install a version older than the current" message but I'm trying to install 3.2.3.1233

Then you have 3.2.4.
This OS has a boot2 upgrade that has an anti-downgrade minimal version set to 3.2.4.

mocely1 -> in your case, you need a little piece of hardware in order to being able to downgrade to 3.2.3 or older.

I am unable to use this because my Nspire is only CX not CX CAS so it says unsupported OS/file type

Pretty much any USB-RS232 TTL adapter based on a FTDI 232, a PL2303 or a CP210x chip. You can find one of those for less than $20, even less than $10.

Then here is the 3.2.4 for the CX non-CAS:

you need to buy it online, though, because most store buildings don't carry such material.

Alright sweet, I'll have to check that out. Yeah everything's online and even if it was sold in stores who has the money to pay full retail.

yeah regular stores often exagerate with prices. For example, for a serial to USB converter (for people with computers that lacks a serial port), Staples charges $60 excluding taxes. But again, TI's online store isn't any better.
