USB8x / MSD8x errr 0315

Hi community,
I recently make an cable to link my calculator (TI 83+ 2013 Edition) to an USB (under 2 Go of memory (998 mo)
First I launch USB8X and there is no problem, and when I plug my USB key and try to launch USB8x, There is an error (0315)

And... I don't you what is the "FindPipe" and how to correct this error.

Iirc, this error is what happens when there isn't the correct plug on the calculator's end.



It needs mini-A. If it's a B plug, you can change it to A by either splicing one of the cables into another (I think you connect the black one to the woven shield), or a simpler, somewhat messier way.

Ho Yea but my plug is a mini B but the tutorial I follow say it's possible to make mini A by link the pin 1 and 2 because the mini USB B dont have the pin 2 connect
If I don't make a link between the 2 pin, there is error 0C00 (because there is not a mini USB A, it's a B)

I made a cable like that myself and it works perfectly. Don't know why you can't get it working. :/

Ok let me show you, to my USB Female (there's 4 color black, red, green and white) and to my mini USB male, there's 4 colors but not the same (red, grey, white, green [I think grey is the black])

And to the mini USB male, there's 1 pin no link. I don't know if the grey wire is the good pin or the green wire or the white ? (I don't touch the 4 wire there is the basic of the cable)

USB mini has 5 pins. 4 of them are the same as USB, and have corresponding wires, but the fifth hooks to either power or ground, and tells the port whether it's acting as a Host (type A) or a Slave (type B)

With the normal A/B, this is implied, but with the mini cables, many devices support both types. Hence the detector pin.



Since there is no wire corresponding to this pin, there's not much you can do without cracking open the connector.

Buying a prebuilt cable is a cheaper option, unless you want to tear up one of the link cables you have on hand.

Note that cheap manufacturers will often still use the B-style connector, since it's cheaper. They wire it up correctly inside, though.

Yea I know this but on the mini USB B, juste 4 pins are connect (the pin 2 isn't connect) whereas the mini USB A have is pin 1 and 2 connect, so it's possible to connect that 2 pin right ?

ps: I've open my mini USB B to make a connection to the pin 1 and 2 but I'm note sure where is the pin 1 :/

There is no wire, so you'd have to modify the connector directly.

There is no wire but the pin is here, I'd have to link the 2 pins (1 and 2) ?

EDIT: ok it's because I don't initialise USB8x with the 2 pin connect now I've the error: 1203

Firstly, don't double post, use the modify button above the post.
I have done this before. you can put a very small ball of aluminum foil between pins 4,5, and the sheathing. It's very sketchy, so make sure that the aluminum isn't touching the other pins, as it could possibly break the USB port on the calculator or the flash drive.
Also, some flash drives just don't work, and using MSD8X/USB8X kills the battery, so try new batteries.

Few things: Get good batteries that are new, buy a specialized adapter for your purposes, and use an older calc with the extra RAM. Make sure you use an older flash drive that consumes little power. You may end up with what seems like little to no space, but I promise that even a 4 MB is a LOT of space for MSD8X. I have a 2 gig and I only use like 114 MB o fit , and most of that is screenshots and readmes. The rest is HUNDREDS of programs. My calc directory on my computer is nearly 1 gig but it's not FAT 16 (which MSD8X requires) and it's also got a lot of noncalc stuff. The flash drive will pose a problem if it draws too much power. It'll even throw you errors like the one you're encountering even when that shouldn't happen.
