If you mean with a Mini-B on one end and an A on the other (pretty much the standard), then yes.  Both TI-Connect and TiLP support it.

Yes, that's what I mean but Ti connect and tilp don't "see" my calc, althought winxp does recognize that have it plugged in.

Did the calc install, so XP recognizes it as a calc?
(something like TI-84-Plus USB device)

One of the most frequent causes of TI-Connect and TILP not seeing a calculator, is that the calculator was plugged in to the computer before the driver of either TI-Connect or TILP was installed. In such a case, Windows installs some dummy driver which TI-Connect and TILP cannot use.
You need to force the uninstallation of the driver in the Devices Manager, then install TI-Connect and/or TILP, then plug the calculator in :)

yes it did
Now it seem tilp is aware of my calc but trying to send/receive anything results in a invalid command id/transmission error.

Hm.  Did you do the Dirlisting?  What happens when you click the Ready button in the top-left corner?

Most of all, did you configure the calculator and cable model ? ;)
Note that TILP can do it automatically for you, if you have a single calculator/cable, once you check the "USB scan at startup" checkbox in File -> Change Device (Ctrl + D).

Invalid command id
Received and unexpected command id from calculator probably due to a transmission error

I did set that, but when tilp starts up the command prompt says "no devices found" and "unknown property orientation for class GtkVBox"

And I made sure I don't have those bogus .sys files on my computer (running WinXp btw)

This is a long shot but I believe I heard somewhere that Tilp and Ti connect don't work so well together when both installed. If you were using just ti connect I might be able to help as I had these same problems before also. And wait! You say your using and XP? Mine doesn't support ti connect or Tilp?! So maybe it is your computer or something else.

I don't have ticonnect installed. Well I did but then I got rid of it since it couldn't find my calc either.

So any similar progs that work with XP that can do plain usb cable transfer?

I used to transfer stuff all the time when I had a silverlink cable back in highschool with my ti83+, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing
(I hope that doesn't come across as cocky or arrogant over the interwebs, I just wanted to point out I'm not a novice to this procedure)

I think a library or two that Gimp uses doesn't play well with tilp, would you happen to have that installed?
(looking at the GtkVBox thing..maybe there's some other programs that conflict as well?)

Nowadays, with some manual configuration (for Windows to accept more than one driver for one piece of hardware), they ought to ;)

Darl181: this has nothing to do with the connection problems reported here ;)
