I had the same problem with the cable that came with my calculator, I went to Staples got a silver cable and it started working.  Try that.

did you install Connect first, or plug in the calculator.

Btw, your black cable, does it plug into a USB port?

ok, but the question was if you plugged the calc to computer first, or installed TI-Conncet.

ticonnect was already installed when i put my calculator in
also i tried another black cable that fit (but it was for recharging a device) same result

what should it say when you connect your calculator with a black cable? is in under com1 and com3?

Did you install the cable itself? Go to add new hardware and it should locate it, after doing that TI Connect should give you the USB option.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!

ok heres what to do if anyone else gets the same problem
after you install ti connect, plug in your calc
when you plug in your calc you should get box poping up. it has three options  yes, this time only, yes, and every time, and no, not now
select no not now then click next, the rest is obvious(click yes if it when it says that the driver is registered my microsoft)
