The reign of legend- download help problem
« on: August 31, 2009, 09:54:26 pm »
In, your guys game listing you have a game called the reign of legends under our Ti-83/84 games. Well, I followed the instructions and I sent Roc1A,B,and C to my calculator. I ungrouped them all and then deleted them. I have ion and mirage OS 1.12 installed. None of those programs showed the game. I had rarc and the other file un archived. I then looked at the instructions and it says you need the OS higher than 1.13. Does that mean the calculator update becasue mine is 2.43, so it should be fine. Plus, I can't archive the file rolegend and when I try it says underfined. I was thinking that this might help narrow the issue down.

Well, since it's a Basic game, try running it from the old-fashioned PRGM menu. :P

Oh for most BASIC games (those which usually got hundreds of sub programs), you don't need Mirage Os to run the game. You need to read the readme carefully and run the main program directly from the program menu, like if you executed a small math program.

Also, since this game is so old, you will need to ungroup the files directly on your computer using TI-Connect software, by right clicking each 8xg file one by one and selecting Extract All. If this option is not avaliable then you must reinstall TI-Connect. This is because this game was sent using a different linking software that is only compatible with the older link cables and it used a different format for group files. As a result, when sent with TI connect to the calculator, they get corrupted. For some reasons, they are fine if ungrouped on the PC, though. So basically, ungroup everything on the PC and send everything to your archive except RARC and the other file that goes to your RAM and it should work. Make sure you have a lot of memory free, though. For most games made by myself prior July 2004, you will need to ungroup directly on the computer, same for several old games in the download section

By the way in case you missed it, sometimes you'll get an err:archived when running the game
when this happens you need to select the main program in menu then run it again. This is due to a bug with a library (Zflash, renamed to RARC) used to archive/unarchive programs directly from the game. This happens with ROL2 and Swordmaster Warrior too

Well, these crashes won't occur during the game. It only occurs if you quit the game, then either do any math operation/execute any other program an pair amount of time before running the game again. I am unsure why this happens. If you get the error you just need to choose quit then press 2nd+ENTER+ENTER or select game in menu then run again

This game is hard, though (altough not as much as ROL2), so yes, save often :P

nvm. I did what it said in the instructions instead of just extracting and sending them all at once. It fixed the issue and works perfectly.
