TI Connect Picture Converter for Mac
« on: August 27, 2010, 07:29:10 pm »
The Windows version of TI-Connect had a Picture converter, that would take a jpg or bmp and turn it into a calculator Pic Variable object, i.e. it would be stored in Pic1, Pic 2, etc. Is there anything like that for the Mac? Thanks.

I don't think so. The last time I tried TI-Connect on mac (in 2004) I could not find anything like that.

Could this folder be any help? I think there are a few files there that involves calc images, but I don't know if they convert things and if they work on every version of Mac OS.

(EDIT: I appended "For mac" at the end of the topic title. That way, if the problem is solved, it will be easier for other Mac users to track this)

It comes with TI-Connect. It's called TI Screen Capture or something like that.

C:\Program Files\TI Education\TI Connect\TIScreenCapture.exe

Does anyone want me to add this as an SC2 feature?

Darn, sorry to hear x.x

There is sure a poor amount of calc development tools for mac. This is the main reason why I don't use Macs (besides the price)

Alternatively, let me try something else. I'll return with a post edit in 2 minutes.

EDIT: WOAH! KERM! Lol, I was actually gonna check if SC2 supported 96x64 bmps conversion to 8xi. Lol, interesting "ninja'ing" you did, there. ;D

This would be a nice addition I think.

How is SC2 modified? I wouldn't mind writing a small program to convert .8xi to png/jpg, but I don't know about the other way around.  Maybe, but it would have to be the right size, or it would crop it, and anything that was not a black/white pixel would not be included.

This would make a cool SC2 feature!
Even cooler if it supported different file types and sizes :D

May I point you guys to this SourceCoder suggestions thread, please?

Oh, and of course SourceCoder already supports .8xi to image conversion.

I also think it would be a nice addition to SC2.  ;D

@graphmastur: I think, though I'm certainly no expert, that it makes a pixel black and white depending on a certain threshold, not just purely monochrome.

Yup, posted. I also added a few more suggestions. I think conversion to z80 format would be nice.

Hey guys, check out the following thread.  SourceCoder 2.5 can now turn .bmp, .gif, and .png images into .8xi files, generate the .db statements for monochrome, 3-level grayscale, and 4-level grayscale images from any-sized sprite or image, and generate Nspire-compatible ANSI C array initialization for nibble-packed, 16-level gray images of any size up to 320x240 pixels.

Great! This will be quite useful for those who don't want to download a standalone converter or people who use Mac or a platform with limited tools. Great job!
