TI-Nspire Restart Loop
« on: February 12, 2012, 05:28:40 am »
So for some reason my calculator just keeps on restarting, and I don't know how to stop it. Can anyone help me? It has a normal screen then a screen with a clock symbol. Help me! D:

Whether caused by Ndless or not, try to follow its troubleshooting guide, "the TI-Nspire falls into a reboot loop": http://ndlessly.wordpress.com/ndless-troubleshooting/

I've tried to take the battery back out and put it back in, but it doesn't work. It still gets to the screen with the clock icon and restarts again. When I pressed the key combination it says,
"Please replace the battery and try again. Press any button to power off."

The section I was pointing you to is about reinstalling the OS from the maintenance menu, did you this? How did it go?

Does anyone know what this message is about? Adrenaline, was this message also displayed before removing and putting back your battery?

Yes, the maintenance menu doesn't start if your batteries are too low.

Yes the message was displayed when before I removed my battery. I'm going to let it charge for now and see if I can bring the maintenance menu up.

Is there a way to turn it completely off? As soon as I plug it in it just restarts and when I unplug it, it turns off.

Can't you let it charge on the maintenance's menu message "Please replace the battery and try again. Press any button to power off."?

No, if I let it hang on the maintenance menu message, it just turns off automatically.

Then this is a serious design flaw of the TI-Nspire...
Can you check if it could be charged from the diags menu? Hold the the following keys at boot time: Esc+Menu+Minus

Ok so the diag menu works.. Do I do anything there, or just leave it to charge?

Yes, leave it charge there. Then reinstall the OS from the maintenance menu

I don't think its charging... when I unplug it, it just turn off, and back on when I plug it back in.

Did you let it charge long enough?
Would it be possible for you to borrow another battery and reinstall the OS with it? I see no other solution.
