Wow. It's been 4 months already and I haven't done anything... OS 3.6 is here for Ti-Nspire series. Is there any new ways for installing Ti-Nspire CX CAS into a Ti-Nspire CX now? Would it work if I put OS 3.6?

Hey man,

I downloaded the 3.6 OS & you can run Ndless but only under the Boot 2 (There are 2 boots to go under btw)
and you have to install 3.1 OS as well under Boot 2.
There is some hardware you have to buy & hook up & then you have to reset to run Ndless.
I don't know what you're talking about the way you said it. If someone reads this without knowing everything he might get confused and try to install OS 3.6 first the official way which is a doomed way.

The correct facts are : You can run OS 3.6 with nLaunchy and if you want you can run Ndlessed OS 3.1 with nLaunchy switch feature (see the many Ndless switch topics).

In order to have nLaunchy available you have to have boot2 3.1. This is where the hardware part comes. If you don't have boot2 3.1 you may use a TTL/USB adaptator to reprogram this boot2.

But this is not the end. If you have an Nspire with >= J-revision, you have to buy a new mother board from a reseller.

So next time, don't say you can install Ndless and OS 3.6, these are two seperates things (see Ndless switcher 3.6).

Understood Levak.......I think you misunderstood what I meant.
This is why I said to ipwn3r456 to look at my thread called: "Worth Upgrading?" which is posted BELOW this thread.

I didn't get more technical because I wanted him to do the spade work & read what I posted.

I jumped the gun without asking here & installed 3.6  My hardware is an "E" model which has Boot 1 & Boot 2.

Nuff said....

ipwn3r456 Please read the entire thread with the title "Is 3.6 worth upgrading to?" or Whatever it's called.

Technical advices is given & you should see what model of TI Nspire CX CAS calculator you have.

Post online what you have insofar as the CX CAS calculator model is concerned & the nice folks here will help you.

P.S. Levak...In the future, try asking people what they mean before accusing.....Not good manners.
Adieu

Okay,  but there is a difference between not spoiling researches and saying wrong statements.

I still don't understand any word you're saying in that sentence. If you installed OS 3.6 the official way, you cannot install Ndless anymore without hardware manipulations. Plus  "has boot1& boot2" doesn't make any sense without actual versions of both.

P.S. Levak...In the future, try asking people what they mean before accusing.....Not good manners.
Adieu
Thanks for telling me I have bad manners. Also "Adieu" doesn't stand for "good bye" in french but something more like "God saves you" or even worse, "Die, thank you".

Or rather, "farewell" with a negative POV, like "see you never again".

Anyway, Stefos: I think it's better to be over-precise in the first place than having to deal with unfortunate consequences due to misunderstandings or lacks of details based on assumptions... ;)

Note: if you don't like Levak's way of speaking, it's best to just ignore him or better, only take the useful info from his posts, and if you really feel he has been out of line, then there's a thumbs down icon right above his post and a report to moderator link at the bottom. A 404 not found will occur when sending a report but it will send and mods will get notified.

I think he was fine, though, although we need to understand that each other's native language isn't English. Your post, from my point of view, could have misled people into installing OS 3.6 the normal way, thinking it runs Ndless, especially if people don't bother reading all the post. As for Levak, his posts often sounds more rude than he normally is, he's definitively no troll and while we prefer that people remain as courteous as possible, he definitively has no intention to single you out as forum user. Installing OS 3.6 is very, very dangerous from an Ndless point of view, so he's just trying to save people from installing it by mistake.

By the way, "Adieu" in French means "so long" or "farewell" over here.

Right DJ Omnimaga!

I only meant to help & things get blown out of proportion.
Adieu or not

This is why I said to look at my existing thread "Is the new OS worth installing..."
as that addresses hardware that has the 3.6 OS on it as well as what's needed to actually
install Ndless.....Whatever.

I'm done...When the hardware I ordered comes in, I will post on my own thread for help.

Thank you,
Stefos

Don't worry about it. I think it's just due to language barrier personally. I myself often got into many misunderstandings with Levak in the past and some other members due to it.

That said, since OS 3.6 is this dangerous, this might explain why people's reaction might be more rash if they fear that someone might install it to run Ndless due to not due to misunderstanding a post. I think the main issue was this post:

I downloaded the 3.6 OS & you can run Ndless but only under the Boot 2 (There are 2 boots to go under btw)

Someone who is new to the TI-Nspire scene might read this then tell himself "WOW OS 3.6 can run Ndless??? Gonna upgrade now!!1!1W00T!1!1one" and forget that he still needs 3.1 installed as the main OS with Ndless and nLaunchy.

Anyway, the issue is solved so I think we can move on :)
